The tufa formed in the sand, but it now exposed due to low water levels in
the lake.

Hello Tomasz,
Nice image, but the small, out-of-focus leaves on the left side and the bright reflections on the upper right are quite distracting. Try cropping them out, or consider darkening the ages to help hide them. Bringing down the highlight values, or/or burning (darkening) the sky would help too.
All the best,
Greg

Yes, I definitely prefer the higher contrast and more dramatic technique. I have various versions of this image that I've made over the years. For this version, I was trying out a 'softer, more gentle' approach, but it seems that you and I think the same!
-
Yes, the tighter crop does seem better. I work with that, since I think I prefer it too!

Hi Tony,
My sentiments exactly! Photography is also my escape from politics, press, etc..
I like this image, but there might be just a bit too much foliage along the bottom. Perhaps crop a bit off just below the bottom-most flower.
Nice work!

Scan of a 4x5 negative. Critiques welcome.

Great capture of the moment and keeping the viewer involved in the image. I find the bright spot on the floor on the right a bit distracting, perhaps try darkening, or removing it.

Yet another scan from a Polaroid negative as an homage to a particular
photographer... no, it's not Avedon!

Hi Alf,
Thanks for the comment. The detail in the original image (36Mpixel) is even better. I wish I could upload that version, but it's way too large.
-
Thanks, Doug.
Most people would not have picked up on the Avedon look :)

Went out yesterday to photograph the rock details, instead, this happened.

Homage to a certain photographer from a very old Polaroid negative.

Ian, yes, I tried scrolling and you're correct, the horizon is level. It must be an optical illusion, but when see at full-size, it really appears to be tilted down on the left.

Nice image, but perhaps you might consider cropping some of the left side to remove the "dangly bits" of out-of-focus trees. Maybe try cropping some of the bottom as well.
Cheers!
