  1. I have dragged out my cumbersome Kowa super 66

when i wind i am supposed to wind 1 1/3 around

it does that for the first couple but then stops itself at 1 turn

and that is where i have to take the photo (about 3 pics into a 120 roll)

is this correct? Does this camera stop itself; ready for the next photo?

    Thanks

    Eric

  2. Hello Michael D'Avignon

    Thanks for your reply.

I recently took a photo off of a cliff on Long Island, New York and into trees where you could clearly see a truck and roof of the house way below. The sun was behind me and glistening through these trees.

In the photo you can not see the roof of the house or its red chimney, or the brown truck... all too light, obliterated ; i did not look at the photo till later. Perhaps a 1/2 stop down or 1 stop down would help...but i think that the far away red of the chimney and the glistening also...would hold better with a polarizer; to hold a round polarizer in front and by the slot is problematic.

    What have you used?

    Thanks

    Eric

  3. Hello

I am looking to use a polarizer filter on a Polaroid SX70.

I see that Polaroid did not make them. Are there filters that fit

this camera? Any after market?(besides taping a piece of cut gel

over the eye and the lens)

Also there is a 1.5x lens, is there a longer after mkt?

    Thanks

    Eric

  4. Hello

I know that the sx7o has aperture of f8-f22

and exposure of 14 seconds to 1/175 s

what is the sequence that the exposure is taken?

if i am in the shade and it needs to be four stops brighter...for

    instance...is it f22 1/15 or f8 1/60?

i am trying to figure what i can hand hold.

    thanks

    eric

  5. "the Polaroid corporation sent Evans its SX-70 auto-focus camera"

This could not be true as the auto focus known as the SONAR was on the market in 1978 and Walker Evans lived until 1975. The camera that he was given had to be an early sx 70 auto exposure camera with no sonar...and since the sx-70 was new...Polaroid wanted advertising from Walker Evan's using and talking POLAROID sx-70.

  6. Hello

On the piece that you screw on to the rear of a lens to hld it to

the board...there are always three notches. I do not like to use a

screw driver to loosen and tighten.

Is there a tool that I can buy that is specific to this

purpose...and where will i find it?

    please email me at herz1@optonline.net

    thanks

  7. Hello. I happen to be the guy that recently bought the Nagaoka 4x5 in that Canadian store. I then happened upon this page. They had the camera advertised at $995 Cdn. which is about $600 in USD. I had just missed an Ikeda Anba in mint condition with original box, basically the same camera for $450 in California. I explained this and the store guy agreed that they were priced too high and came down to $400 US dollars. The rear focus is VERY stiff on one side...anyone know how I should handle this? It is metal reaching into a wooden slot that it slides along. The other side is free. It looks like the rear focus was not used. my email: herz1@optonline.net

    Thanks

    Eric

  8. I just bought a nagaoka...

I had read that the tachihara lens board would fit just right.

It does not. It is a couple of hairs off. I suppose that the thinned

edge goes toward the top, where the sliding brace would hold it if

it fit in. I guess I will just have it cut down by a machine shop.

Has anyone else run across this problem?

    thanks

  9. hello

i just bought a minox iiis.

it is the one with green/orange filters.

Did minox make an accessory neutral density filter?...

Does someone have one to sell?

i see that there was a filter set (green/blue/orange)...no nd.

I heard that Walter Zapp was still working on minox until he died

    this month at 97...amazing.

    thanks

  10. Hello

i always get the right answers in this forum, so...

I just bought a lechman 5x7 german wooden view camera...1905? or so

it came with a shutterless goerz 210mm that says f 6.8 on the

    front ...

yet on the barrel has the numbers 4.5 to 584...

what does this mean? why would it not say 4.5 on the front and not

6.8? is this a true f584? the smallest iris does not look like a

    pinhole.

    anyone familiar with this lens?

I was also told to clean the ring that moves the iris...that i

should use alcohol on a q-tip, move the ring and then use mineral

    oil.

Anyway the camera is beautiful...i paid $180 on ebay which seems

    like a deal to me.

    please reply

    thanks

  11. hello

    i just got a kowa super 66 slr with a 55mm lens...

i am used to my rolleiflex tlr with a xenotar 80mm and no mirror.

what is the lowest hand held speed with 50 or 100 iso film without the

hand grip? with the grip?..., were i to get one...i always like to

feel the camera in my hands, somehow.unless i use a tripod; i used

this camera on a tripod the other day and the mirror makes quite a

vibratory slap. i get crisp incredible shots handheld with my rollei,

    even down to 1/25th s...

    experieced please reply

    thanks

  12. hello

i live on long island and am a creative weekend photographer

i have never printed my own and do not have a darkroom

so i take my 4x5s to a lab who tries to get me to use 120 and makes me wait

i send my 120s to washington for 50% less than ny

there is a great disconnection between the shoot and the print

i am in my 40s and would be interested in finding someone

who would make prints for me while i participated

i would also love to make enlargements and show my prints

    thanks

    eric

  13. hello

i just purchased a super graphic with optar 135.

i want to be able to use the full front movements of this 4x5 camera for architecture

what is the smallest size image circle that would do that without any

    problems?

    i am looking to spend under $500 for a 90 or possibly a 120mm

which lenses would fit ?...and have the needed circle of coverage?

    thanks

    eric
