  1. Leonardo da Vinci Was very thoughtful about the tools he used. What does that say? Indeed, part of his art/vision. And of all others in the classical world.
  2. ^ the brick wall could be a metaphor" Sam. Sam, uses a high end Canon for his local exhibition prints. Seems we are on the same page, Sam. "the brick wall could be a metaphor" Sam. Indeed, for what? Keeping , in or out? Or, maybe just to restrict other values and other peoples. Think on it. Of course you can take great photos with any device. But, why not take photos from a specifically designed device, to support your photographic desire.? Yes, iPhone you can put in your pocket, always with you. So, there are many far superior photographic devices you can put in your pocket .Laziness comes to mind. I suppose simplicity and convivence are the operative words. Why have to think...a troubling concept.
  3. "Nice ,Rich" Great on a low res monitor. Clinical, and lack defined. sharpness. Sort of like a photo of a hospital ward. iPhone photographers will wet themselves in appreciation.
  4. That 50mm Artisan lens holds its own against any lenses you have used, Yes, also against your go to lens.
  5. "Silence that phone🤫lol."mjferron But then, but then, it might be a very important call from the boss. Or ,a family member who needs to speaks to you as matter of urgency for them. Or, your Mum. A Mum is not to be ignored. Even a super hero, like my mate Sam, does ignore his Mums phone call. Jeez, he would "shiver his timbers " at ignoring his Mums phone call. Silence is not golden despite what the song says so.
  6. Anyway, bored discussing the wonders of a iPhone. Time for a photo..... #
  7. "Silence that phone🤫 Indeed, and all those appts which demand attention. Ding, and ding, and dong. . Jeez, i just want to take a photo, not being sold life insurance or whatever.. Not really have time, or interest, for iPhone marketing ..give us your money for minor upgrades.
  8. "newly (secondhand) acquired M10 monochrom. , Arthur. Good to see your photography going to different places. Are you using that 75mm Summicron lens?.
  9. Inoneeye, is a imaginative, creative photographer, regardless of the photographic device he uses. His photography speaks for itself.
  10. There's a semi celebrity fashion photography who only uses a Olympus Muji 1 film camera. Sort of I'm very special because I only use a point/shoot film camera. I'm a very special photographer because I use a iPhone. Hmm.
  11. Last time I tried to use my Smart phone was a confrontation between a Magpie and Paragon Falcon, over a carcass.. The Magpie was not backing down indeed very belligerent. Then my phone rang and they both flew away. Hey Ho. "can walk and chew gum at the same time," Sam. Indeed, I pass on the chewing gum thing. "more refined cameras at other times and in a variety of situations. Sam In all situations.
  12. "Not unlike a Polaroid camera (point shoot and self processed) I found that a mobile phone or Polaroid by some photographers can be used to make unique and glorious images" Inoneeye. They are very much a software driven device with a tiny sensor, no viewfinder, and without any form of handling qualities. You cannot even see the screen in the smallest amount of sunlight. "unique and glorious" Inoneeye. Oh wow. Oh wow. Always wanted to visit fairy land, seems a place you can visit when you eat special foods.. Simplistic software easily emulated in any decent software editing tool. Yes, you can take great photos with any device! And yes, you have taken photos with your photo copier. Manufactories have spent many years creating cameras with good handling qualities, large sensors, and high quality lenses., fast autofocus. Let us throw all that into the bin just for the sake of convenience , simplicity . Indeed, let us all be happy with takeaway food,; why bother to cook or go to a restaurant. .
  13. The Highway or Byway? Does it matter? Nope. Personally I prefer the byway, although both go to the same place. The journey, is the journey, and reaching the destination is all what matters to many folk. Convenience/Simplicity. Little else matters.
  14. "You’ve got a bug up your butt about iPhones and can’t seem to let it go." Sam. Chill out just a chat, Sam. Little else. "lot of my shooting, even when in fully manual mode on my DSLR (which is how most of my photos are taken) " Sam. I believe you. No need to keep repeating it. No need to call folks names about bugs up their buts and such things. Silly Billy thing.
  15. So, I suppose is the tool so much a lesser thing to create the Art, so much lesser than the imagination ,of the pure imaginative , Art? Really, it must be a very simplistic mind, that the Art can express itself without the tool of imagination. Suppose substances do that. But where do they take you other than no where, Sam.
  16. "But Allen’s been putting anyone down who claims it can be used in a distinctively artistic or creative way and that’s both a narrow-minded and misguided view." Sam. Did I.? Read my posts Sam:? Doubt you have. All I have said is a smart phone is a poor photographic device.. You, have agreed ,as you use a high end Canon in manual mode for your serious photography. Indeed, one of my favorite photographers is Brad Evans. He uses a iPhone ,but is a accomplished photographer, not a button presser. Lets be honest what has the iPhone got to do with photography unless in skilled hands.. Very little. Press a button little else involvement.
  17. The dude has a nice full, Barnet, Sam .Is it you in your younger days.? Fingers rather scaggy, don't you think? Nice collaboration between us. We should do it more often.
