Judging by Bruce's response in this and the other recent post about the RZ, I'd say he did have a difficult relationship with the camera, but he's the only person I've heard of with that experience.
-
I use an RB67 and am about to upgrade to the RZ which I've heard has much sharper lenses. I say go for it.

I am looking to rent a Mamiya 7II (or 7) for a day or two to see if it's
something I'd like to buy.. Unfortunately Penn Camera doesn't rent them anymore.
I'd really appreciate it, or maybe if you don't want to let a stranger take it
we could meet up for some shooting in the city?

I'm having this exact same issue with my RB67. My mirror has a crack in the lower left corner, maybe this is throwing it off? Deciding whether I want to take it to be looked at or just buy another body for $50-80.

In response to asking for a handcheck, I have, in the last year, travelled (more than once) from Washington DC to: Los Angeles, Cincinnati, London, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Mexico. I have asked for handchecks at EVERY airport along the way, and have not have one refuse it yet. That's the way to go. I just put the rolls (not in boxes) in a clear plastic bag and ask right before I go through the metal detector.

Any timetable on say, the 35mm version??

Also just picked up the Polaroid Book, it's got some excellent work in it.

well, I guess at the least I've proved I need a new scanner. I agree the contrast is too high, I'll give it another go and see if I can improve it.

I had posted about a week ago regarding some 160NC that I underexposed
by shooting at 400 accidentally. The lab suggested I process normally
and it would hopefully be ok, but better than any possible color
shifts that would result from pushing 2 stops. I went (hesitantly)
with their suggestion and the shots turned out fine, at least in my
opinion. Here is one of them:
<img

Well, I had it developed normally, and I think it came out ok. Here's one of the images:
.

That's a flatbed scan.. so the color is a little off. Thanks for the input everyone!

It's fairly important that I get these images to come out. They were images for a hip-hop artist so it's ok if they look a bit funky, should I go for the 1 stop push then?

I was shooting some outdoor portraits this evening and when I switched
from 400 to 160NC I forgot to change the film speed on the light
meter. So I suppose I undexposed the 160NC. Am I right to assume that
a 2 stop push will be the correct adjustment to save the shots?
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the input everyone, I ordered the original this morning.

Thanks BW, I do believe I'll get the D70 and just upgrade the firmware. That's too much of a savings.
-
"A bigger LCD is nice, improved Dynamic & Closest subject AF is very nice. Those changes alone might make it worth the difference to you. Except for the larger LCD, all of the upgrades are available to a D70 via the free irmware upgrade from Nikon."
I tend to use the center spot-only-focus recompose method, so I'm not sure the AF improvements would make much difference to me. It sounds like the LCD is the only difference seeing as how you can upgrade the firmware on the D70. So the firmware will upgrade the AF features?
(Thanks for the input as well Ellis)

I hesitate to post this, but I dont see much discussion on the issue,
so I will post anyway. I was set on buying the D70 with 18-70 from
BuyDig.com for $985 but I dont want to be stuck with an outdated model
if the newer D70s is worth the extra money for the upgrades. Any
opinions? It seems like the D70s w/ 18-70 would be around 1199. That
comes to $300 more if you factor in the $100 rebate on the D70.

I also use an RB67 handheld, but it isn't an ideal setup. I got a fair deal on it, so it's what I'm using. I shot these using the neck strap and holding the camera underneath with my left hand. I focused with my right. It can be handheld but it's not easy to maneuver, especially with the bellows focusing.

thanks.

I was in Thailand a few weeks ago and shot in several markets and on the street. People were very friendly, and half the time I would ask (usually in English) or just hold up the camera. I wasn't refused once. Have fun!
