1.
I sent back my Lillyput and got a Must HD 7".
I like it much better

 2.
I have an A7s with 24-70 f/4 lens.
The 12-35 f/2.8 is better in every way, plus it focuses faster and more accurately on my GH4.

 3.
I have already ordered my A7sII.
This should have been the A7s but now they got another $3k out of me.
I will sell my A7s + 24-70 lens to pay for it and keep my 28-135 F/4 Cine.
Who needs f/2.8 when you can get clean ISO 102400?
There are fast Sony primes and other manufacture lens you can use if you need isolation.

 4.
The Sony A7s cost less than $3k and will shoot in the dark but needs a lot of help.
The best lens is the Sony 28-135 Cine that cost about as much as the camera.
You need a 4k recorder for more than 29 minutes and at a much better recording quality.
I routinely DownRes 4k to 1080P30 with my 7Q+
You need a two battery grip to go over 1 hour or a dummy battery and larger external one.

 5.
I can not edit so I will add to my response.
Most camera monitors show a lower resolution image so adding a lope does not help much.
The HDMI port can be set to show the RAW image, thus the main advantage of external monitor.
Most of the LUMIX lens can be used to advantage as the GH4 will pre-focus them for faster and more accurate AF.
The in-camera 4k is very good but the 1080P codec bit rates are higher (usually resulting in better eventual playback).
If you have an UHD computer monitor, fast enough Hard Drive and Video card you should be able to play back 4k files.
Otherwise DownRes to 1080P or shoot 1080P.

 6.
I think the DF should be upgraded and continued for only one reason.
When Forum members complain about Hybrid Cameras, I can continue to tell them to get a DF.

I now shoot so few stills that a 8MP "frame grab" from a 4k Video is "good enough". Besides, nearly all "Video" Cameras now shoot stills too.

What I want Nikon to do is produce a FullFrame Mirrorless Camera optimized for Video with an improved 12MP A7s Sensor with an Expeed 5 processor and with FullTime AutoFocus like the V1. Although not crazy about the DF Rangefinder style, it would not matter on a TriPod. A short flange could be used if an F mount adapter were included. And Nikon could introduce a new Cine Line of lens.

 7.
I have Adobe, Sony, Edius, and AVID but use Power Director.

 8.
The only lens I need for my GH4 is the 12-35 but I also have the 7-14, 35-100, and 100-300.
I used the 100-300 at the Equestrian Event this year and mostly shot at about 120mm (240 equivalent).
I would try the Olympus Pro 40-150 f/2.8 next time if I got paid.

 9.
You like your Pany so why aren't you considering the GH4?
It is small and light. My whole kit fits in my smallest bag.
You can use Nikkors or other lens on a SpeedBooster for wider angle and lower light.

I now have an A7s too. It will shoot in the dark. It is FullFrame for wider shots. Almost any lens will adapt to it.

 10.
It is not 4k but I use a MustHD 7" monitor set to multiply 2X to help with focus.
The GH4 AutoFocus and AutoISO are usually right on.
Perhaps you need to try a MFT AutoFocus lens like the Pany 12-35, 35-100, or LUMIX G 20mm F1.7 II ASPH.?

 11.
I have the GH4 and A7s.
The GH4 + 12-35 & 35-100 are all I need to shoot over 3 hours of Video unattended. There are many adapters to use all your Canon lens. Several SpeedBoosters will allow shallow DOF, wider frame, and faster glass with manual focus only.
The A7s cost nearly twice as much, will shoot in near dark but only record 29 minutes internally which is about how long the tiny battery last. To shoot longer or 4k you need an external recorder. I can go 2 hours unattended with a two battery grip and external only recording. There are adapters for your FullFrame Canon lens.

 12.
Erik
Did you try spinning the Mode Dial to the AUTO with camera? That is supposed to be the point and shoot setting.
You could also try setting the AutoFocus Mode in the Menus to AF-A
When in Live View you can set the Lens Servo to AF-F (FullTime AutoFocus). Sometimes this works but usually it causes Nikon's to "hunt" or noticeable refocus constantly. Make sure the Focus-mode selector is on AF then press the button and rotate the command dial

 13.
I am interested in getting the D750 to use my Pro Nikkors on.
It is supposed to have the latest/greatest focus capability of any Nikon although a V series Nikon 1 might be better for AFF.
I would mostly use it for Video with a Shogun and mounted on a TriPod for unattended extended Videos of Bowling.

What I use now is a GH4 (it can go 3 hours with just one battery and card) and because of the greater DOF and excellent AFF I can nearly keep every thing in focus.
But it is not as good in low light as my D5300 and the D750 should be much better.

 14.
Maybe/probably
You need to do some testing because your setup is crucial to battery life.

 15.
Due to advanced features and FullFrame Sensor, I suspect that the D750 is the current best Nikon body for Video.
I have used a D800, D600, D7100, V1, and prefer the D5300 over the rest.
A high quality fixed f-stop lens is best. Lower f-stop for low light is usually better.
I like AFS zooms, others prefer primes or manual lens.

 16.
I know the D5200 users are going to give me flak for recommending the D5300 instead, but most of them have never tried actually shooting both like I have.
No they did not use the exact same Sensor.
The more powerful Expeed 4 Processor and algorithms do make a huge difference.
I use 1080P 60fps to smooth action, not for slow motion.
Even Action Stills are easier to capture.
The low light high ISO performance is twice as good, at least for me.

 17.
The only reason that I sold my Nikon V1 for a Panasonic was that it would not record long enough.

 18.
I have shot with Canon and lots of Nikon DSLRs.
The GH4 does not have poor Focus Tracking.
The AFF for Video is very good and I did not loose focus even when a horse went behind the jumps at a recent Grand Prix Event.

 19.
Cfast is the way to go and it won't be long before all DSLRs can shoot 4k Video.
However, I fear that mico SD is the actual future for most cameras.
The trend is to make everything smaller (GoPro) and lighter.
Too small to break, we will be loosing them instead,
and us with dimming eyesight will need a magnifier with light to find them.
Maybe when they become even smaller they will have a GPS (locater chip) in them?
