I like the color green in the wave and the contrast between the white
cap and the dark clouds; but is it too simple to hold your interest?
-
This image holds my interest as I know the boat yard well, what about
those not familar with the subject?
-
I'll try and correct the 'S' spot of dust - oops. This is grainy as it is cropped but I think its ok in a shot like this. As for a horizontal shot and more ocean, I think you get that aspect when you view what appears to be a 'stern dragger' boat in the back; its tiny against the sea and sky.

Does this toning work for you?
-
Chirs, your version is more the look I was after, thanks for the input; its more in the mood of the holiday.
-
I like the abstract feel of this one, but is it too dark for a
Christmas photo?
-
This photo is so different from the others you show to us. I think it is a great use of an image to convey an authentic story.
-
A little dark perhaps, but I think the skin tones work ok, yes?
-
Well at first I really liked the B+W as it reminded me of Sargent painting in the MFA Boston. But I think the color adds a lot with the brown tones on the base (need to get rid of the red light).

Critique?

I would suggest cropping around the two on the right. A tighter shot of either one might have been a powerful portrait also.

This was changed to greyscale (also uploaded to same folder) in PS
and then Red was added; Does this work for you?

Gerard:
Is it possible to have some details as to your technique used in this photo as well as your portfolio?
-
Maybe its the two beers I've had, but I find this to be real photography; Taking this old motif and turning into something so expressive and giving it a modern feel, very nice.

Looks like Snoopy is about to get a lesson in dog fighting.

Canyon de Chelly, Mesa Verde, or Chaco Culture where is this? I hope you can tell us, seems from the above discusion that this is a well known location. Where ever they are the Anasazi Ruins are well worth a trip to see. This one would look great in large format. Could the forground be improved?

People who take this kind of shot sometimes use a red filter to darken the sky...
-
Needs to show her face more, doesn't it? None the less its a power statement about urban life; this is something I do everyday, walk by and I don't look...
-
Ive found scenes like this one but never captured the mood and mystery of this one.
-
Wouldn't this be nice in Black and White as well?
-
There are a lot of waterfall shots out there but this stands apart ; I find my eye dancing around the frame, its detailed nature with abstract qualities at the same time.

Why does everyone go South for the winter, seems we should all be heading for Norge. We are seeing many great winter photos this year.
