Nice capture. I like the close cropping but wish there were just a tad bit more over his top eye.

I can't believe you are getting 1's and 2's on this. It must be from boring old traditionalists who only like B&W images!
-
Are you sure this is Kodak? The colors look so bright and saturated I wonder if it isn't Fuji. Maybe even Fuji Velvia?
-
The question of whether the photo is candid or posed is like thinking of photography as a sport rather than an art.

Wonderful photo of course, as are all of your photos, and all photos on photonet. Your choice of [insert film] FILM is a good choice for the setting. I find this [insert film] FILM to be [insert technical detail about film]. Your [insert camera and/or lens] works well for this subject because [insert technical detail about camera and/or lens]. I have nothing to say about your choice of subject matter or anything regarding artistic sensibilities.

Beautiful, delicate. Enjoying the whole folder so far.

To me this suffers from what many of the "I was playing around in photoshop..." uploads do. It's great to play around with digital effects so you know what you can do and how to do it, but do the digital effects enhance your photo really, or just make it look "different"
Ask what is the aim of your photo - what are you trying to do or to convey. Then if you have knowledge of digital effects you might decide to employ one to further your aim. But to employ one just because, well, as more of us get better versed in photoshop it just won't look interesting to us at all. I'll admit maybe you were after something here I just don't get. If that is the case and you feel you achieved it you can of course ignore me!
But I do want to say I would like to see this particular photo without the effect because I suspect the colors and composition are strong enough for it to stand on its own.

You are right, something about it is puzzling but in an intriquing way. Forces us to reflect on the photo and maybe on urban settings in general. Enjoying the rest of your Experiments folder also.

Good choice to shoot this subject in color now. Do you have any others from this shoot?

Mysterious and nice colors. But with this photo I think the horizon needs to be absolutely level.
-
The arm looks so uncomfortable that it is too distracting.
-
Beautiful composition/lines.

When you upload a picture and allow it to be public and critiqued, it may or may not be chosen manually to appear in the "rate recent" and "rate yesterday" photos. If one of yours is chosen it will receive a lot more views and therefore ratings, simply because more people are seeing it. So if you compare two of your pictures and they are getting a very different amount of ratings, it COULD be that more people find the one more interesting, or it could just be that one photo.net-person-in-charge found it more interesting. Keep the ones on line that YOU like!

I like it. They don't look dead. At first glance they look like they are swimming. Only the ice gives it away. Nice colors contrast with the sad subject matter.
-
Disagree about more contrast. The softness helps make the photo.
-
Excellent take on an often done theme. I love your composition.

Beautiful. The colors, texture, composition are all appealing. It also has meaning - the work is not over, the best is yet to come. Maybe I would remove the comparison shot of the background that you've posted - keep teasing us.

I like the contrast of the young man above looking up and hopeful and the older man below, looking down. Of course as usual your photos have wonderful colors, composition, etc
-
I like the diagonal line, the colors, and the contrast of the wood against the metal.

In addition to Mr. Eaton being a racist and full of rage - regardless of what one might think based on his 'peaceful' flower photos - he wants them to SUCCEED from the Union!
-
Really enjoying your work. Keep following your own eye. Look forward to seeing more.

Perspective is perfect. Haunting photo.

Usually I don't care to know HOW a photo is taken. The final product is what matters. But I have to say that knowing about your kite project and how this is done really does add to the joy of this photo. Thank you so much for sharing these with us. I second Marlene - they are really refreshing!

I've seen and taken this kind of shot before but I have to say this is VERY good. I love the fact that it is two shadows and they are obviously engaged in watching themselves and the scene. The interaction is great.
