thanks for the tip about the solvents and the black paint. My M body

does indeed have the black paint finish.

Just to clarify, I was asking this question to prevent street theft,

not for stealth photography. I was trying to hide the value my gear

Hoping for a serious answer, but I always enjoy a good gibe. Some

cool leica websites like Hans Pahler's show their M bodies with the

logos taped over

Any feedback on the new version of the cambo wide. It is a multiformat 4x5, 6x12cm, 6x9cm system with several lenses avail.

Any suggestions on where to read about the proper technique for prefocusing using the depth of field scale on my leica lens. I think I know what I am doing, but a review of how to interpret the DOF scale would be appreciated.

Why do Leicas load film this way? Is tradition the reason? Is there a technical reason why this method is superior. Will the new model to be announced this month have the typical film loading method.

I guess I will be a perfect Leicaphile. I am trying to decide between a Black Chrome .72 TTL and a LHSA Black paint model. Part of my enjoyment of using a tool (photographic or otherwise) is in the intrinsic beauty of the tool. I know both can take the same pictures.

I would like to know if the LHSA is in any way a more intrinsically beautiful tool and why. Tell me about the poetry of holding the camera in your hand. I am not interested in resale value. It will be used to take photographs, not sit on a shelf. I regret selling any of the cameras I have ever owned. I plan to never sell a camera again.
