beautiful tones! great job -- post more! the other photo in your portfolio is very nice too, dramatic. the only thing i would say is, the look a little bit grainy or fuzzy...maybe the jpeg compression or the scan? anyway, keep up the good work

This is a very good candid shot. I agree that a newspaper or something held to the little girl's left to reflect some light into the darker side of her face would have improved the photo, but good job and good digital toning.

I guess people who do architecture photography would be griping about the converging lines or something, but I really like this photo. It looks like the buildings in the foreground could topple inward at any moment. Nice dramatic sky too.

Just having some fun posing this toy, testing out Diafine and
practicing lighting...any thoughts?

Hiya Brittany -- I like this photo a lot...the light is great and the grass etc., but it just seems a little too soft (aka blurry) for my taste. When I look at it smaller, it seems better, so maybe it just has something to do with the large large scan you've uploaded. Anyway, good work & welcome to photo.net.

I love this photo! Cover the bottom half and it looks like one of those soft-focus, lush headshots of movie stars from the 1940s...and then add the gas mask...it's brilliant. Disturbingly weirdly good.

It doesn't really capture what that Porter Sq. escalator is all about for me...which is...IT'S INSANELY LONG/HIGH!!! hehe Maybe if you took the shot from the very bottom of the escalator to reflect how it's like ridiculously long. Maybe w/ a wide-angle lens too so it's really exaggerated. Just my 2 cents.

This was shot through the screen door on my patio -- can't decide if
it looks artsy and interesting, or just fuzzy and bad. I do like
the pose and expression though...any thoughts?

Wow -- I really like this. The sticks and reflections of the sticks...very nice. It kinda makes me wish the duck weren't there.

This is really impressive -- I never knew a fly's wings were so opalescent. Great job...makes me want to get one of those reversing rings and try some macro of my own.

I'm eager to hear everyone thoughts and comments on this little
experiment using the screen door on my patio. It has a weird other-
worldly quality to it that I like, and the screen door gives it a
great texture like painter's canvas.

Hi, I really like this photo, but I'm wondering if maybe we could see it larger and at a better resolution? The same goes for the other photos in your portfolio -- they look good but are hard to see in the current size. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Polaroids look like paintings to me -- good work.

I agree w/ what some of the others have said of this series (Southwest folder) -- could be lighter. I associate the Southwest w/ lots of sunlight, desert conditions...seems like the photos almost want to be VERY light, like washed out/bleached by the sun. Just a thought! Keep up the good work.

I like this one too. I like all the space around him -- seems kind of cold, isolated.

Hi, I like what I think you're going for here and I've tried to do similar photos myself, but haven't mastered it yet (I'm pretty much a beginner). I agree w/ what the others have said that the photo should be like clinically sharp -- maybe a smaller aperture? Also, I think the background is distracting. Show half the nose. And I don't really know much about lighting, so someone else could advise you better, but I think you want to position the lighting so that every wrinkle looks like tree bark. I would try this one again if I were you -- really love the idea!!!

I like all the ones of the crane in your portfolio (in fact, I like some of them better than this one), but I really like how the bird's crown feathers match/mimic the foliage in the background.

Total beginner here - welcomes any and all comments! Thanks.
