As for a better lightsource, I've had success with the Kaiser Slimlite Plano LED light box:

If you don't see banding at certain shutter speeds, that's the issue. Likely your shutter speed is not synced up with the refresh rate/frequency of the light source.
-
Do you see banding when viewing the image data at 1:1 (100%) zoom in, say, Photoshop? That is very important to consider.
Also keep in mind that if you do see such banding at that ratio, it may be in the actual image data or it could be in the display preview path. But let's start with viewing the image data ideally. You might consider uploading a sample to something like Dropbox so others can examine this. -
There should be no issues.
Check your catalog preference but once you double-click the catalog, it should open just fine.

What you are showing on the left side is the Finder Sidebar (Favorates) of which you can add the Desktop (or any file or folder). Is that what you're asking for?
Add a file to the sidebar: Press and hold the Command key, then drag the file to the Favorites section. If you don’t see the Favorites section, choose Finder > Settings > Sidebar, then select at least one item in the Favorites section.
-
In the future: Type C key to move/select the Crop tool, then Shift C to toggle the options. The Shift and the key to select for each tool works the same. For example, I key for Eyedropper tools, then Shift I to toggle each option for that tool.

Let's start with a reset of preferences to see if this fixes the issue.
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences on quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

Can you show us a screen capture of what you're seeing? And your PS preferences (File Handling).

Adobe Denoise AI is a part of Adobe Camera Raw (and thus Lightroom Classic which share the processing engine):

Bridge like Photoshop, can host Adobe Camera Raw. No Photoshop and thus ACR, no Denoise there. -

Sorry Joe, I'm with Ron:
Do, however, get in the last silly word here in the tread you hijacked, then demanded to be closed, then promised to leave. I don't have any more time for your foolishness.

You seem to discard all evidence against you, meaning you don't make a good judge, or your lack a good sence of judgement. It's your way, or the highway. Good luck with that my friend because you will be judged in the same exact manner.

The only problem I had until now was Camera RAW.

I was able to open the files using Light Room 3 (2010) with no problems. I then tried opening the DNG files using Photoshop Elements 6.1 (2009) . It opened the files, but it took about 3-5 minutes to open each file.

Well if you the "expert " had told me to just reboot my computer, we could have avoided all the vitriol. Actully I'm not sure if the reboot did it, or if it was me downoading a copy of Avast Network Firewall which updtaed all of my out-of-date-drivers ?
Not sure, still trying to figure that one out ? In any case, thanks for sticking to your analysis, it made me think.

It it worthwhile upgrading why not use an older version of Photoshop ? The main reason is that while new cameras are steadily comming out, Photoshop has to keep up with those changes. The older versions of Photoshop cannot handle the newer files so then you are stuck.
The facts, corrections, and the final outcome that were explained:
On 7/5/2023 at 8:48 AM, digitaldog said:One certainly can if they convert using the free DNG converter. Adobe never forces anyone with a new camera to upgrade Photoshop (actually Adobe Camera Raw). That's all the fault of the camera manufacturers that refuse to produce an openly documented raw.
Yes, you still miss out on new features, but you can render your new raws with older Adobe raw converter(s).21 minutes ago, hjoseph7 said:I rebooted my computer today and I was able to convert recent(2023) RAW CR2 files using the DNG Converter ! It opened the files, but it took about 3-5 minutes to open each file. PSE also has a version of Camera Raw. I tried opening the files in CS5 but it crashed.
And the actual topic (the question):
On 7/3/2023 at 8:06 PM, Rick Helmke said:The question is, what does Lightroom offer that Photoshop doesn’t? Does it even matter? I’m wanting something that just works without overthinking the work. Of course it takes practice and there’s an inevitable learning curve but I did a lot of that already. I want to be able to post process the way I’ve been shooting for years, it needs to be second nature. Suggestions?

In terms of #2, supply from 180 to 300 pixels per inch of desired output. 7 inches would require minimum of 1260 pixels and no more than 2100 pixels for output to 7 inches.
