  1. And yet none of that is actually associated with licensing. In fact, they flat out tell you that you can keep answering each question of the TRUST exam until you get 100%. Again, I suspect it's reading comprehension and that your go to method of dealing with your inferior intellect is to pretend you're an authority on every subject. Plenty of evidence of that here.
  2. I guess its just a complete lack of reading comprehension on your part. My 17 year old son has no commercial ventures, like 99.999% of 17-yr olds, and the drone is under 0.55lbs, or 250g.
  3. There is no need for licensure under part 107 if flying for personal usage. Further, the drone is 249g and therefore doesn't even require registration with the FAA.
  4. We use the B4UFLY app, which shows approved vs restricted flying areas. And the drone has GPS and won’t fly if you’re in a restricted area.
  5. https://www.instagram.com/p/CqmGSZTOHQHu6E1-d4zpLpE6AbCGjut1I-US000/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= that’s a link to some of the drone photos/videos my son took, just to show how empty the lot was. (Photos 3 & 7 show it well) Took a lot of searching today, and as the NL poster noted above, all references to photography in the Tampa city ordinances are in section 16, which is the parks department. But I found this by searching “filming”: 27-282.17 deals with temporary film projects and discusses permits, insurance, police assistance for closing a street, etc. That’s what the first 9 sections cover. Then there’s section 10: (10) Exceptions. Nothing in this section shall be interpreted to require a permit for: a. Individuals filming or video taping only for their own personal or family use. b. Employees of print or electronic news media when filming on-going news events. c. Students and faculty filmingexclusively for educational purposes. media when filming on-going news events. c. Students and faculty filmingexclusively for educational purposes. I also found some pages from Tampa trespassing lawyers who all stated that a property being “open to the public” means that one doesn’t even need to provide a reason for being there. Finally, the city definition of trespassing defines it as a person “not authorized, licensed or invited” to be on the property. Being open to the public would make me authorized, and paying for the parking would grant me temporary license to be on the property. I’ve already emailed DeSantis. State passes no permit concealed carry, but I need a permit to teach my teens an appreciation for an art form by taking pictures from the roof of an empty parking garage? Doesn’t sound so free to me, Ron. will be contacting the city attorney’s office and mayor’s office as well. have significant doubts anything will be done, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to make a case for what’s plainly and obviously right!
  6. So, I took my kids to a parking garage in downtown Tampa today. It's the garage known to have the best view of the Tampa skyline and me and my youngest sons wanted to try out getting some nighttime panoramic shots. Also, the garage is in a clear to fly area according to the B4UFly app, so my older two were going to fly their drone around and get some shots as well. So me and my youngest were starting out with determining the "no parrallax" point for all of our lenses. This was going to be our first attempt at panoramic photography and we're trying to gain as much experience as possible prior to a summer trip to CO and UT. So we're taking or measurements and my other 2 have just gotten the drone up in the air when the rent-a-cop comes along telling me that we're not allowed to take pictures there. I ask if the garage is public property or private since I thought it was owned by the City of Tampa. He confirmed no less than 3 times that we were on public property. When his supervisor was talking to me over his speakerphone, she also confirmed it was public property. He had provided me a piece of paper from Film Tampa Bay, which is a public-private partnership for film permits for TV, motion pictures, commercials and some still photography (which I'm sure means commercial photography, not personal). The paper listed reasons you need a permit and reasons you don't. The reasons you would need a permit were: 1. Film production 2. Private property 3. Some still photography may require a permit (so that tells me that neither 1 or 2 applies, and seems pretty obvious that the may require is referring to professional/commercial) The reasons you don't need a permit included: 1. Crew of 3 or less 2. Handheld cameras But if you go to filmtampabay.com, you can see that, at least for parks and conservation areas, that crew of three is actually a crew of 5 and using a handheld camera OR a personal tripod are exemptions. So, as I've been informed multiple times by the rent-a-cops that I'm on public property, I inform them I'm within my first amendment rights to take pictures. I am not impacting anyone else, I'm not violating anyone's reasonable expectation of privacy and I'm not disturbing the peace. I am paying for my time at the parking garage and using that time as I see fit. I even waited to go until Sunday, when I knew there were no events downtown, such as a Tampa Lightning game or major concert, since I knew I was at the garage closest to Amelie Arena. So I inform them I will wait for the police to arrive. I figure I have one option to just leave, which gets me nothing. Or I can roll the dice that reasonable cops who actually understand the law will arrive and I can get the shots I came for, and if not, worst case is a ticket for loitering or something, but most likely just a warning of some sort. While we're waiting for the police, 2 other rent-a-cops show up and one tries to tell me that filming on city property with anything other than a cell phone is illegal, lol. So the cops arrive and I see it's 2 young guys, so I know immediately that I won't be able to take my photos. One of the cops proceeds to tell me I'm on private property, which I believe is categorically false. Then he asks for my ID and keeps me waiting for like 30 minutes while he writes out a Trespass Warning. So can a publicly owned parking garage be considered private property?
  7. Why hasn't this user been suspended for criticizing post moderation? It was removed, but he definitely quoted a mod's post, specifically criticizing them for not locking a thread, after the mod plainly posted, in red text no less, that people should resist the urge to quote his thread? I'm not seeking solutions here you dolt. I'm providing people information about exceptionally poor customer service from one of the major sellers of camera equipment.
  8. What are you talking about? You are just one unpleasant person, your misery drips from every post. I feel bad for you...
  9. Called on Thursday. At first they denied that I was charged twice. I insisted I had two charges on my account. Got put on hold for 10 minutes, then they apologized and said I was indeed charged twice and they had just processed a refund. Mind you, this was all with the same person, to this point. 27 hours after I called on Thursday, I called back because I still wasn't seeing a refund and more than a day later, I should be seeing at least a pending credit. This time I got someone different who said that a refund had been processed and gave me a confirmation number. So I called Capital One and they confirmed that there has been no refund submitted. They further informed me that even if I couldn't see a refund that hadn't cleared yet, they would see the refund the instant it was sent. And they weren't seeing any refund. Also, that the confirmation number they gave me was from their merchant services processor and Capital One would never receive that number or have any knowledge of it. Called back, and this is when I learned that they closed at 2PM on Fridays. I thought during daylight savings they were open until 4pm on Fridays, like other days. So, now I'm on the clock. I have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to get this straightened out, or I'm going to have to lay out over $1,000 to not have B&H's mistake negatively impact my credit.
  10. Didn’t want to place an order so soon, but wanted to get my son and I each a RRS PG-01 for a trip to Colorado & Utah this summer. And the earlier the better so we can practice using this new-to-us gear. But these have basically been on back order for 2-3 years from what I’ve read. So when a version with more than I was looking for (didn’t want the leveling version since I have a leveling base and didn’t want the nodal rail as I already have the Kirk LRP-3) became available on their website, I jumped on it and ordered 2 of them. I tried using the same credit card as I used to purchase the $3k lens, but it was declined even though I had plenty of room on the card. I assume they’ve been blocked from my bank due to the dispute, so I used my Capital One card, went through no problem. This was Sunday night. On Monday, I wake up and have an email from them telling me they couldn’t confirm my info with my bank and I’d have to send a wire. This seemed fishy to me, so called the main number and had them confirm the email was valid, then had them connect me with the department that sent the email. I was on hold for like 10 minutes, and asked for the sender of the email, which is who picked up. He knew who I was already and told me that there was some issue with Capital One, but they got it solved and even though they had issued a refund to my card, they were able to cancel the refund before it sent and my items would be shipped out that afternoon. While I’m on the phone with him, I get a notification that my Capital One card was just charged the amount of the order again. I put him on speaker so I could check the account, and I have three pending transactions - 2 for the full amount of the order and one for -$1. I informed the guy I was speaking to and he said it wasn’t possible, they didn’t recharge the card and it would clear itself up. Does this look cleaned up to you? Lol. Been watching since Monday, just moved from pending to official charges at around 10pm Wednesday evening. I know I’ll get this fixed, but FFS, maybe take just a bit of care to get my order right? Especially after what just happened!
  11. Rule of thirds. His bench is close to 1/3 of the way down, 1/3 of the way in from the left and is a strong piece of the composition. With your crop suggestion, then bench gets pushed to the edge and, imho, would not be nearly as strong of an element and instead becomes and afterthought or distraction. Also, the outline of his labyrinth right now is basically hitting all 4 rule of thirds intersections.
  12. I just ordered these RRS PG-01 pano heads in advance of a trip to Great Sand Dunes NP, Arches, Canyonland and a handful of slots this summer. Since they've been out of stock way more than in stock for like the last 2 years from what I've read, I decided to jump on this offer, which includes the MPR-CL Nodal Rail. I already have and like the Kirk LRP-3 rail, so I have no need for these MPR-CLs. I should receive them by Friday. Would love to get back the $110 effective that I paid for each of them, but wouldn't turn down a reasonable offer close to that.
  13. Who's whining? At the very least, Alan and I are having a very pertinent conversation about how these large retailers treat customers, especially in an age where they handle less and less of the actual work involved with fulfilling orders. And I fully recognize that ultimately, B&H did the right thing. My main complaint with them is in how they closed the investigation within like 4 hours with the wrong conclusion and basically stopped communicating anything germaine until granting my refund. But, I just placed another $1k order with them. Bet that I'll be video taping the package inspection and unboxing! BTW, if anyone needs a RRS MPR-CL Nodal Rail (or two, lol) let me know. I already had some Kirk LRP-3's, but I know these PG-01's are almost always out of stock and I have a trip to Colorado and Utah in 3.5 months, so I wanted to make sure my son and I were set with these and had a chance to practice with them before trip.
  14. I tell you Alan, I'm almost positive that B&H now takes no part in the warehousing/ship prepping aspect of the business. Further, I would bet an awful lot that all the video that they reviewed shows is that someone placed a lens in a box and slapped a sticker on it. There is no video showing, or verification of any kind, that the shipping label that was placed on that box was for me. I honestly view B&H as a victim in this as well, albeit not a blameless victim. I believe the outsourced warehouse worker made an honest mistake. Further, I imagine B&H was mislead by this 3rd party because I don't see how they would be ok with their stock being mixed with that of other retailers. But, B&H opted to outsource this function, opting to give up quality control to save money. For me, going forward, I imagine, regardless of the seller, I'll be taking video of all box openings that are supposed to contain items I've purchase if the value is over a few hundred dollars. If everything is fine, I can delete it. If not, I'll have video proof of the unboxing. But yes, if I were more passive and less assertive, I do believe I would have been out $3,000+.
  15. I disagree completely. I believe you meant to say that was how you read it. Inherently, the bigotry that you and samstevens are trying to place on the post simply isn't there. You both are taking it that way. I've informed that was not my intention. I've had this post open for hours now, typing out long, reasoned and well thought out responses discussing Charlottesville and George Floyd. But I just keep deleting them, since any discussion therein will almost certainly offend someone, so I'm just going to leave it, with these words being the last I'll discuss this: I can't concern myself with people taking offense in what I say. Your offense is on you. You're reading things in to one sentence that simply were not there. If the intention was there, it would have been evident throughout the original post. Y'know, I grew up on Long Island, so I know that Jewish people observe Saturdays as the sabbath because I grew up with a lot of Jewish kids. But I haven't lived in NY since 2002. I've lived all over this country in 12 cities in 3 different time zones and I can tell you with 100% certainty that a large percentage of the population of this country has no idea that Saturdays mean anything to Jewish people. So until you two brought it up, I'd imagine a not insignificant number of people who read my post had any idea that B&H was owned by Jewish people.
  16. I still feel these examples are completely different. What I said was tongue-in-cheek because every non-Orthodox regular customer they have has come across, and been frustrated by, the inability to check out of a web order on a Saturday afternoon. No one, Or no one I've ever met, has had any type of real problem with it (it's their business to do with as they please), but it's something customers can commiserate over. Same as the hundreds of memes I see on the internet talking about how much people want Chick-Fil-A that day, but wait, it's Sunday. But I've never heard of anyone getting offended by discussing Chick-Fil-A being closed on Sundays. It's the same thing.
