laurentlacoste 0 Posted September 2, 2008 This series was taken with a compact film camera in August 2004 along the Baltic coast, northern Germany. Scanned, slightly cropped to the left and top. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 2, 2008 The randomness epitomizes my life. That's kind of frightening. Those chairs look like little animals (prairie dogs I'm thinking) that scurry about and stop for seemingly no reason and then recommence their aimless travels. Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted September 2, 2008 As usual, a great image with a very unique approach an interesting composition and magnificent colors.....and surprise, one of the chairs, has people in it (for me that really makes the picture) Thanks for posting it Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted September 2, 2008 of favourites, I guarantee. reminds me of surrealism, and minimalism mixed together, thank you, Giuseppe Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 2, 2008 You must be kidding! You mean you didn't arrange these beach chairs in just this perfectly random configuration? Sometimes photographers find themselves in "the zone" so I guess my earlier Twilight Zone comments apply here too. Terrific shot, one for the book. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 3, 2008 They look like a group of "dancers". it is simply gorgeouse! and a good sense of humor! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 3, 2008 This reminds me of penguins scattered on a glacier. What a fantastic shot! Link to comment

laurentlacoste 0 Posted September 5, 2008 Thanks everybody for the nice comments on this simple beach shot. The "strandkorb" or "beach basket" is a typical feature on display on all German beaches. Those were in Sellin, a seaside resort on the island of Rugen. I went there about 4 years ago and did a short documentary series on the area. I only had a small film compact when I went there and wished I'd taken a better camera with me. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted September 5, 2008 this is great. it took me a minute to figure out what those things were. even knowing they seem like some sort of alien creature. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted September 6, 2008 Linda, thanks for the kind and humorous words. Link to comment
janc 0 Posted September 7, 2008 Hi Laurent! Wonderfully well seen shot, the fact that almost of them are empty gives that strange feeling to those beach baskets. My best regards. Link to comment
