Wonderful picture with great saturated color. How does he do it? How does he do it? Steal his notes! Seriously, the "art" of this picture is that it's so disarming, so apparently natural and unstudied. Aunt Martha probably thinks she could take something like this. But Aunt Martha has no idea, none, of the hours that were spent creating a picture that looks like it was done spontaneously, in a careless second. And that's the trick and the genius of the thing.

Like Jack, I realize that this will be appreciated by only a few. (Jack and I will have to start a fan club). After one dives in, it takes a minute for this photo to warm up and feel comfortable. Once acclimated, one can appreciate all sorts of remarkable details. Truly unique.

Not being as sharp a tack as either Jeff or Jack, it took me quite some time to figure out what the hell that mass on the right was. Once I got past that, my appreciation of the image became greater. There is a playfulness and casualness that belies its serious possibilities. What you intended is best left a mystery. The color does carry the day.

and yet hyper modern, like a vision from a distant photo land where we are given a rare occasional glance into thanks to your good work, thank you, Giuseppe

A trifecta of color, composition and texture. Once again you and I seem to intersect on subjects.

Like a shot from an old digital camera which clicked when the action was over. Polaroid quality. From a D2X, therefore it is art. And the critics confirm it. In a good way. I like it. Karl

Colors and textures of the water shaped by the wind makes it for me....the processing makes it timeless (I agree about the film look of the colors)...it can be from this year, from the 70's anything in-between...a bit enigmatic and a provocative composition...an image that will last in my opinion...I am not speaking about posterity (I am nobody to say so) but the feeling we can have on our own photographs...you know openning some old images, some have aged rapidly in our minds and others we're even astonished to see them after years....

i can't think of any other photographer who could cut a bather off at the head and still have a successful image, but you pull it off brilliantly. a really amazing work Laurent!

If I am not mistaken ,they are not just only bathers. They are snorkeling and exploring the marvels under water, just like Laurent exploring the unusual from top. Composition & colours are interesting,Laurent.
