As a Non-American I have no idea what 'Blackwater' would mean there you live. Anyway this capture brings to my mind Bonnie & Clyde, Peckinpah and even somehow Thelma & Louise, the last one because of their car jump from the canyon cliff (as you probably remember). I skip the environmental concerns and instead tell liking this, because of the rusty patterns and those two opposite arcs. I wonder if you did any close-up shooting as well, or did you feel this distance comfortable, natural, like I had if I had been there too discovering this?

I did not take too many images of this. Blackwater refers to American civilian contractor in Iraq that is contracted to protect and provide security for American diplomats and other high ranking individuals that must have protection. They are in deep doo doo right now because they have been accused of over reacting in several events in Iraq and needlessly killing innocent Iraqis. In one case they are accused of killing five (I think) civilians in a car, that was riddled with bullets. Thus the title.

Thanks for looking at the image and commenting. I, too, thought of Bonnie & Clyde when I first started thinking about a title.

you certainly know how to find wacky subjects. Was this the car that was trying to transport the first shipment of V8 and was ambushed (am-Bush-ed, ha ha ha) by the Coca Cola swat team? I say, dude, lets drink more V8 and seal the holes in their brains...those Blackwaters. Cheers, Micheal

I'll drink to that! But, I have to admit, it's a bit of wine tonight. But this baby does look like it overdosed on V8, then bled to death when they shot it down. Oh, you didn't know that if you overdose on V8, you float bloated to the skies, and become a menace to society? It's true. So homeland security had to take him out.

And while I was frowning and looking at the thumbnail I said to myself, "What the hell is that? It looks like an upside-down car."

After having viewed it larger I must say that I'm thrilled and envious of your image. I do hope you also took some close-up images of the areas that have the best views of the rust streaks running down on the white background. There is much interest in the various close-up views of this, assuming that the photographs can be taken during the time the others are reloading...

Markku nailed it. Bonnie and Clyde's car for sure. The strange thing is that the car seems more a victim here with the multitude of bullet holes and the rust streaks running like blood. Tragedy on a country trail and you the intrepid war correspondent.

When I first saw this image, I laughed, but on more sober reflection, it is sadness that grips me; sadness that the country has come to this. With all the talk of Blackwater having immunity from prosecution in Iraq, it is NEVER mentioned they have an immunity from prosecution right here in the United States of America, and that they shot HUNDREDS, if not thousands of Americans in 2005 in New Orleans, a story that doesn't even make the "mainstream" media. This, of course, was no laughing matter, as they SERIOUSLY contributed to the THOUSANDS of dead poor people in New Orleans two years ago. Officially, the Katrina death toll is 1,836, which should be multiplied by at least 10 to get anywhere near a credible estimate, as most of the bodies were washed out to sea or eaten by sharks. But, it was Blackwater that helped to PREVENT groups like the Red Cross, THOUSANDS of volunteers, fire departments, emergency personnel, and doctors from entering New Orleans.

Meanwhile, unnarmed Red Cross workers toting food and medicine have been unable to enter the city for days.>>

<< Blackwater mercenaries are some of the most feared professional killers in the world and they are accustomed to operating without worry of legal consequences. Their presence on the streets of New Orleans should be a cause for serious concern for the remaining residents of the city and raises alarming questions about why the government would allow men trained to kill with impunity in places like Iraq and Afghanistan to operate here. Some of the men now patrolling the streets of New Orleans returned from Iraq as recently as 2 weeks ago.

What is most disturbing is the claim of several Blackwater mercenaries we spoke with that they are here under contract from the federal and Louisiana state governments.>>

Thanks. I love hearing your comments because they are always serious and quite often a lightening rod to stir up others' thoughts. And I love to have discussions that evolve from one of my images. Doesn't mean it's a good image necessarily, but that it at least hit an emotional chord with someone. So, my friend, thank you for seeing the serious side to this image and its title. That is what I had hoped for. Merry Christmas.

Even the Stalin era, in Russia, don't had the terror group like there is US, those black water gangs. I know in first hand. This image also representing the thru state of the so called US democracy, Full of holes on it.

Cheers; Bela

Pretty powerful indictment. I won't argue the wrongs of this country (how could I?), but I'd still rather be here than in 90 percent of the rest of the world.
