I think the position of the donuts over the garbage dumpster makes it pretty whimsical, or even the direct line from the church tower thru the donuts to the dumpster sort of has a "God says lay off the fatty foods" angle. I like this.

funny! i love the way this image is sort of flattened to where the donut sign appears to be on the side of the church, and the decorative spires could be made of sugar.

Thanks. The image is ambiguous to me, so I'm open to any interpretation. If you get back to this, give me an opinion on whether or not it would be an improvement to remove the church roof and make it blue sky.

I second John's comments. Very funny scene. Count my voice for replacing the church's roof with blue sky. You should go there at night and change the "D" to "G". Cheers, Micheal

I knew you would be going for the blue sky approach because you are so far out there in space all the time. I think it's the V8. And, I'm willing to bet you don't eat donuts and other junk food.

Thanks for the vote. I hate going back and doing things over again. Now I can leave it alone. Cheers

no betting needed. You are correct about I not eating donuts and other junk foods. What's more potent that a rocket fuel?...V8! What helps you take good photos?...V8! Viva V8! Micheal

An increadible and funny juxtaposition...is it only on the photo or has a former church been transformed into a fast-food restaurant ?...in that later case the image is well ironicly in line with your former postings that more and more becomes a very nice serie about how modern society transforms things not necessarily for the best...

Thanks for the comment. The church is across the street from the donut shop. I've noticed this scene for a month or two, and finally got around to taking it. It's not as subtle and quiet as most of your work, but that's true of me in general. I'm working on developing a quieter more contemplative mode. I do love the many possible interpretations of this one, however.

i am with the keep the church camp. graphically, i would crop this square just at the roof of the donut shop (in case you hadn't noticed, i tend to crop most things square) but art is about the message, and the church is an important part of this message i think. besides the composition is fine as is (even though its not square :-) )

Thanks. I think you may have misunderstood me. I was asking if the church roof (brown area to the right of the spire) would look better as blue sky. I had not considered taking out the church, but upon your suggestion, I scrolled down until the roof of the donut shop was the top of the frame, and I like that image too. There really is a second image here.

oh! i did misunderstand. i would absolutely keep the brown roof on the church. it balances the brown roof of the donut shop so nicely and helps move the eye around the composition.

Yeahhh...! Lots of sweet and hone, sticky and make you sick. And everything in place below. The green box, close to drop in, or you have a choice, by gas, to burn up all those sugars. Ha, ha . Nice cache David.

Cheers; Bela

Thanks so much. Glad to see you here. This is certainly open to interpretation with such key elements as food, religion and trash (and gas, as you pointed out). Most people that have followed my work, no where I stand on these things, but I'm content to leave it ambiguous and watch the interpretations of others.
