He was imprisoned for a substantial portion of his life, so being behind the bars of the window in this scene, perhaps even after he was released from prison and ultimately a prison hospital, isn't at all surprising. His struggle goes on, not only in Africa, but wherever the rights of human beings anywhere are suppressed or denied.
