VSphotography 1 Posted May 9, 2017 Thanks, Les! Terracotta is officially next weeks color! :) Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 582 Posted May 10, 2017 Beautiful minimalist construction with inclusion of frame as part of that construction. Excellent work, Vjacheslav. Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 10, 2017 Jim and Wayne, I appreciate your comments! I provide a link below to a slight deviation from the original attempt. Here I tried to add more of that 'optical illusion' material and also dynamics to the composition by playing with the frame. I wonder what you make of it? https://www.photo.net/photo/18383933/Terracotta-curve-vol2 Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted May 12, 2017 Bravo, bravo and BRAVO !!! Applauses from my seat! Simple, yet powerful and effective. Denotes great sensibility and refined creativity. Congratulations! DG Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 14, 2017 Wow! Quite a generous review from your side, Daniel. Creativity works, it seems... Link to comment
Julie H 312 Posted May 16, 2017 Why doesn't the railing's shadow match the railing? Interesting to see the frame made to be a necessary part of the composition. Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 16, 2017 Keen eye for detail you have, Julie. To be honest, I don't know for sure. The sideview of the staircase together with the railing is 2D-flat, so no deviations in terms of width can be detected. My best guess right now is that the intermediate platform is wider than the lower section of the staircase and that the railing gets wider at some point to follow platform's geometry. I will check it out later at home - I am sure I have other shots from slightly different angles. Anyway, thanks for noticing and making my evening interesting!! :) Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted May 17, 2017 I join with the others who are impressed with the frame. Aside from the simplicity of the image, which also is noticed by others, I am impressed by the textural variety. Excellent work, Vjacheslav! Link to comment
chris_hamilton29 29 Posted May 22, 2017 Great image, like the colour theme and composure. Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 22, 2017 Michael, Robin and Chris, appreciate your critique input. I am also glad something from fine art section made it to POTW. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted May 23, 2017 I couldn't agree more with your observation about fine art images. Abstract images are selected less, though. Link to comment
Dale M 1 Posted May 26, 2017 It is the bringing out of the full texture of the wall that does so much for this image, giving it a `lived in' quality. I have the feeling that the bird is a frequent visitor here, and feels right at home. At the same time the bird is living in the realm of humanity, yet has found a place where it can be away from actual people: it is the bird's sanctuary from the stresses of foraging in the human jungle we call a city! VSphotography 1 Posted May 26, 2017 Michael, actually, I cannot even recall seeing an abstract style POTW. It's either a portrait or a street-shot (or so it seems)... Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 26, 2017 Dale! Now that was one emotional/poetic response. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Link to comment
Julie H 312 Posted May 30, 2017 Vjacheslav, have you noticed how similar your picture is to André Kertész's "Landing Pigeon, New York City", 1960 that you can see at this link: http://blog.ricecracker.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/landing_pigeon_ny.jpg ? Very much the same, though his is B&W. Link to comment
VSphotography 1 Posted May 30, 2017 Indeed, Julie! Only André has a pigeon and I got a crow :) Yet again, very sharp eye from your side. Even the mood IMHO is pretty much similar. Link to comment
