You've returned to the calla lily theme again and again, constantly trying to see the flower with new eyes, I imagine. It's not the subject but the perception of the subject that makes the exceptional picture and this view is particularly lyrical. Beautiful work, Emmanuel.

I had wanted to go out this past Sunday to my old haunt, the gardens at

Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic Church atop the Oakland Hills, a stone's

throw from my home. But, I got off too late due to the fact the wife and I

were watching another of her endless series of British mysteries, this

one with an old jaded Diana Rigg as a tart, jaded divorcee detective with

an acerbic wit and, quite frankly, a streak of unbecoming misogyny; but,

hey. At the end of it, I finally unwound myself from the couch, and

grabbing my camera, headed up the hill. The boys came with me and

tried to play on the wet playground before the wind and the cold and the

darkness drove them back to the car where they gorged on Minecraft

and whatever else the heck they enjoy on my phone. I buried myself on

the flowers, armed with my reincarnated Micro Nikkor 55mm 3.5, an

amazing lens adapted to my Canon 5ds. The sun had set behind the

trees and focusing this lens and stopping it down after focusing was a

challenge. But, I have to say I liked the result in this picture. After a half

hour of so of puttering around in the almost darkness, I packed it it and

called it a night. As usual, thanks for your time.

Great write up, very entertaining and oh so real. The image I love Emmanuel, for its edges, the light just kind of runs around. The b&w tones seem perfect for this. I can see why you return to these flowers time and again, we all do this to some degree, we look for that image that resides in our minds eye and try to find it out there...

I like this b & W series, the images are original, striking and the lighting very effective!

Compliments!

Agreed...this image makes a statement. Simple but striking. Looks like a studio shot. Perhaps you could have removed the flaw on the lily to make it perfect? Rgds Carole
