This is a composition with many layers, overlays and textures. The

dark colouring may not be to everyone's interest - but I tried

venturing where I had not before. I imagine thoughts expressed will

be varied - but that is why we are here :) Gail

The light/darkness play well together.  The petals and wings pop.  There is an emotional sense in this frame of a universe of aging delicacy and nature's harmony though it is easy to forget this when bombarded with the news. The diagonal harmonizes with the counter lines that cross.  I love the veins in the pink petals.

you are such an excellent Wordsmith - you translate my images so well.  It is a feeling as if all that is beautiful and light and free and good - is fracturing - and we do not know what the outcome will be. One does not even have to try hard to get beyond the SMOKE AND MIRRORS - If a child were to lie and make up stories, grandstand and be a showoff,  we would try to set that child on a better course - do what we could so the negative behaviour would not be repeated.  What do you do with Adults who are on a WORLD STAGE??? I never thought we would ever get to a 'place' like there exists today. How do you spell Narcissist ? do I have it right?  Thanks so much Donna for finding a bit of Positive vibes in this composition.

Lovely work which has an aged mood to it.

It gives me a sense that I discovered a dusty book in the attic and found this image hiding in it. I would then sit and ponder about who might have placed it there and why. Was there a couple walking in the garden while being chaperoned by a crusty old lady with sharp eyes when to the  delight of the couple, discovered these beautiful but prickly looking cone flowers and just had to record the moment. Would he have given her the camera so she could bend over thus revealing more charms in this garden? (*_*)

All the best Gail and keep up the fine work,

Very nice work Gail, the butterflies poised in the same position to give balance, an out of focus background to lead our eyes to the subjects and a creative layer to gives this image a unique look

Terrific Gail!!

I love everything about this shot. And it leaves the viewer in a very relaxed mood. What could be better!

This has Gail written all over it. You've taken a well composed image and added your special touch to it. I like the scratchy explosion coming out of the left corner, yet it doesn't distract from the image. I can see a lot of work went into this and the result is nothing short of inspirational.

Best Always, Holger

To me, this image represents late summer when the spiders and the heat have taken their toll. Because it brings to mind these memories, it is a successful composition! Well done Gail!

A memory ... of a moment ... lost in time ... fading away as I age ...growing dim ...  but I remember ...

Nice work Gail

I love the way you 'see/interpret'  -  you expressed feelings that I myself felt when I saw my final edit. An image where our eyes still see that vague colour-the highlights that  perhaps touched up most in that very moment -  possibly why, we still recall a memory that is etched in our mind.  I always appreciate your thoughts expressed Rick - your talent has always impressed me - your creativity has inspired me. Best Always Rick, :) GAil

It is always wonderful when someone 'connects' with one of my compositions - if it awakens a memory, an aroma, - if it arouses senses that recorded even the humidity/dryness of a day, the sound of insects in the air, perhaps the sound of voices in the distance - if any of these emotions come to the 'surface' then 'my work' is worthwhile - thanks so much Robert for sharing 'your memory' with me.

Hello my friend,

always a good day when I see that you have come to visit!!  You have an enormous heart and lean towards the sentimental - you keep 'sweet memories' close to your heart' - and while doing so, you see other's work with a different eye and emotional sensitivity - thank you for dropping by - wishing you some times that encourage all these qualities within you as summer winds down.  We have to cherish the moments we have left of this season :) always, Gail

Thanks so much for your visit and dialogue - you described a wonderful moment - and almost 'wishful thinking' as you fantasized :) Good to hear you enjoyed this composition.

:) always good when you are my first rating - or more so the first to comment or see this one.  You delightful 'eye' that is shown in your many images, as it comes over to view my work, I truly appreciate you thoughts shared - we are different in our work - but good that we appreciate the other point of view - that is how we learn - been enjoying your newest Calderdale Water images so much!

Cheers for now, Gail

You know me so well - but that I appreciate. I never know how these compositions will be accepted - but always hope that there are those that like them.  Yes a lot of work went into this one - but these are the ones that intrigue me the most - seeing what can be brought out of an image when I use these overlays, tones, and textures.  I have to play a lot with the Opacities till I get it to where it is not too muddy.  Thank you Holger for your visit and kind words of encouragement!  Enjoying your Cape May images - still have that place in mind for a vacation one day!
