Wayne Sadler 567 Posted July 12, 2016 I confess I am more in love with painting than photography. I think it is the symbolism of some painters, the ways they suggest,/represent reality, and not copy reality that thrills. Good paintings impart an extra layer of reality to things - the artist’s personal feelings, understandings, relationships to the thing. I put aside many images made in Italy, those lacking focus, many with unnecessary elements (busy), etc. – deficiencies I felt would take too much work to correct in photoshop. I put them aside to paint. Comments and critique appreciated. Link to comment
Sam_Ryan1664884851 0 Posted July 12, 2016 Wayne, is this a painting or stylized photo? I agree with your sentiment about painting and am in awe by great artists. Anyway, i like what you have here. It is excellent. - Sam Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 567 Posted July 12, 2016 Thanks, Sam. I see it as both a painting and stylized photo. I am applying filters usually both topaz simplify and impression and painting in (masking) areas where I wish to display more detail, light, etc. I get to use brush strokes to reveal/define elements as the image and my tastes demand. setsail728 15 Posted July 12, 2016 Marvelous painting. I agree with your philosophy. I love painting but have zero talent for it. So I do it with many photos. You'll see many in my portfolio. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 567 Posted July 13, 2016 Many thanks, Patsy and Warren. Patsy, I've been away from PN for awhile. Thanks to viewing works like yours I am encouraged to begin posting again. Thanks, Warren. I too am a frustrated painter, never satisfied with my meager offerings. Your images suggests you were in a "special place" artistically while in Spain. Link to comment
