Giangiorgio Crisponi 461 Posted November 7, 2014 "Parva, sed apta mihi," this latin verse carved above the front door of the Ariosto' house in Ferrara means "Small, but sufficient for me." I think this is what the fisherman is thinking on the small boat watching the cruise ship in the background. only an orange lifeboat is about 100 times larger than his boat. lauramarco 0 Posted November 7, 2014 Dear Giangiorgio,A magnificent shot!, that's what I call: being in the right time and most importantly being able to see what lies ahead of us.It's about the man and his individuality, his essence vs. infinite and boundless universe. This image reminds us how unique and essential we are and everything we have achieved in life with our intelligence because so a big liner is made just by men. There're several readings so this image is very impressive and makes us think. I would also say: "Waiting for hunger being gorgged, it's not being really hungry" like you say we always have to settle for the bare essentials.Just "me and my single boat"... Is that where happiness lays? I think so. Maybe I would have put the liner in the third above and I would have left more water in the bottom, so that the visual battle is for winning the man alone in the vastness of water.Anyway, it's perfect! Very good treatment of colours!Congratulations! and kindest regards, Laura Marco Link to comment
tm_j 30 Posted November 7, 2014 Very interesting Giangiorgio! and yes ... Parva sed apta mihi ... it is. TFS! When I took my Alaska trip on a 35feet sailboat in 2010, there's a big cruise ship pass by us in Tracy Arms Fjord near Juneau, Alaska and dwarf our sailboat just like this. Link to comment

pablowarko 1 Posted August 25, 2019 Interesting dichotomy between the lone person in the boat and the huge cruise liner in the background, Giangiorgio. Wonderful image. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
