Wayne Sadler 567 Posted February 27, 2014 I think I embarrassed my wife as we rode the train in Italy. Whilethe locals and other travelers sat composed and mannerly, I was up atthe window with my camera panting like a hound dog on his first ridein a pick-up truck. Photographing the landscape at, I guess, 60-70mphisn’t so productive, so it was not odd I became preoccupied with eachtrain station stop. Each to me had its own character and set ofpeople. I would like to go back to each of those towns one day andsee if they match what I imagined them to be based on my “feel” fromthe train station. This is a view of the train station at SanMiniato. A town of about 27,000 inhabitants, San Miniato with itsmediaeval village sits atop three small hills between the Arno andEgola river half way between Florence and Pisa. It is one of thetowns or cities of Italy known as “Citta Slow” (slow cities) - townswhere you should “make haste slowly” or “take some time to take sometime”. Sounds like my kind of place. Wayne Sadler 567 Posted February 27, 2014 Patsy, Thanks. Not a bright and colorful image but I was pleased with the composition and mood. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted February 27, 2014 It would indeed be an interesting journey to re-visit each town and check out the actual from the first impressions! This image does seem kind of sleepy, subdued and yes relaxed, even the lamp doesn't dare burn too brightly for fear of waking a slumbering commuter, it's a place where even a loud shirt would be frowned upon : - )Very moody!Best Regards Alf Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted February 28, 2014 Very nicely rendered image, evocative of place and time. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 567 Posted February 28, 2014 Alf,My research so far suggests my first impression may be correct for this little town. Thanks for confirming I interpreted this impression in this image. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 567 Posted February 28, 2014 Les,Thanks for commenting. It is helpful to know someone else appreciates this kind of "quiet" expression. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted February 28, 2014 there is mood and atmosphere to this image and the two individuals add some interest. Despite the place being medieval I can see someone texting - the beginning of the end depending on which camp you belong to. It seems very quiet and you might even hear a loud pant (*_*). Wayne Sadler 567 Posted February 28, 2014 Tony,Thanks. It's a wonder my panting didn't disturb their reverie. Link to comment
