I think flowers are some of the most difficult things to photograph

well because they are generally so colorful and beautiful they

distract the artist from the work of composing and imparting meaning

to an image. Valentine’s Day gave me opportunity to explore this

orchid. A most unproductive session until this image spoke. Comments

and critique appreciated.

Radu,

For me the image and the meaning/title are so tied together that I am afraid I cannot objectively decide the artistic merits.  Thanks you for appreciating this image.

You are quite right about flower photography, to do it well and with any degree of originality is extremely difficult !

But I think you have cracked it here!

I see a kind of mother bird with baby bird wrapped in it's wings, both bathed in a wonderful soft light.

It's strange because now I see other figures, the head and ear of the human counterpart looking down (top left) and the shadow of the mother through a veil.

Now the only question remains is, would I have interpreted the image the same if I hadn't read the title first......and I think the answer to that is Yes!

Sincere Compliments!

Alf,

Thanks.  The image spoke to me profoundly, but with most art you only hope it relays meaning to others.  You read it exactly as I feel it.  I really appreciate your commenting.

I see the mother bird as Alf does, but I am always reminded with Orchids of what appears to be an 'Angel' in the middle. This POV does not make it so apparent, but it is a beautiful exploration of the flower Wayne. Very intimate.

Tony,

Many thanks.  As you know sometimes you immediately understand an image and read all manner of meaning into it. Often what you are seeing is more about the self.
