dom1 1 Posted December 13, 2013 Trish and I stayed at the Zion Lodge in the park. Waking early to grab a bite to eat at the restaurant and then hike, I opened the curtains and was treated to this sunrise view. I grabbed my camera, ran out on the porch in my BVDs, freezing, and started shooting as the colors dissolved to mist in a matter of seconds. Like an amateur, I just took the photo without looking at my settings on the camera. Later I saw the image was soft and realized I was hand holding at 1/6 second. But, the colors are still nice and I’m happy I was able to see it. The foreground was still quite dark at the time. The normally white mountain tops glowed in the morning sun. Anyone that has stayed at the lodge will recognize the single magnificent Cottonwood that dominates the setting. On this particular morning it was crowned in a flaming sunrise. Link to comment
John Peri 1,029 Posted December 13, 2013 Simply gorgeous, whatever the exposure, it was the right decision to catch the moment, irrespective of the settings. Link to comment
gregverena 339 Posted December 13, 2013 don't fret the fuzziness, if you can capture such a color display! Interesting juxtaposition of the manicured grounds in a wilderness area :) Link to comment
