This is a re-post to an 8 x 10 size, as suggested by Dan South. I

deleted my original version because I had made a muck of things with

accidental posts and things I could not delete.

The warm afternoon light is very inviting and soothing.  As Warren said, a nice place to be...  Mike

Warren......so do I!  :-)  We spent a few days in southern Indiana last week, and this was our view from the B&B.  Wish I were back there!  Thanks for your visit!

Mike......We're gradually visiting some places around our state that we've never been to before.  Southern IN is really hilly, and all we could see from our B&B was this stable, rolling prairies and beautiful views!  It was heaven!  Thanks for all of your comments on my images today!

IMHO, The orange seems a bit overstated but I still like it very much. There are two sensor 'spots' in the upper left sky area which is easy to clone out.

Pierre, Believe it or not, this was taken in the middle of winter!  And we're in the snow belt!  Thanks for your visit!

Jocelyn, Thanks for your candid opinions.  When I was editing the image and enlarging it, I did see the spots and removed them.  I can't understand why they're still there.  I can't see the spots on my small monitor, so I thought I had them removed.  Try as I might, I can't replace this image with a corrected one.  I've done it before, but it doesn't seem to be working now.  As for the color, though there would normally be 2 feet of snow on the ground, this has been an unusually warm winter.  The colors in the afternoon sunlight were goldenrod and orange, and they were really aglow.....an amazing sight to see in the middle of winter.

Nice fall color with the green.  The red color of the red stands out from the scene.  Nice work.  Best Regards,

I love the warm colours of the grasses, and what looks like the first signs of spring conveyed by the new foliage on the trees. But I have just read that this was taken in the middle of winter! The composition is very good with the diagonal line of the grasses leading from the bottom RH corner and building placed perfectly within the frame and with good proportional values.  Does it appear very slightly over sharpened to you?  I might have tried another shot, standing closer to the grasses at a slightly lower angle so as to get an impression of being amongst them, but maybe you already did? In any case a well thought out and very aesthetically pleasing image.

Best Regards

Alf

I typed a response earlier today to Wanghan, Patsy, Alf and Tony.  I know I hit the confirm button because I checked to see that my comment indeed posted.  Now where in the world IS it???!!!!

Here is the short version.....thanks to all for your generous comments.  Alf, I gave you quite a long response about my work flow, etc.    I work on a small monitor (laptop), and I can't tell if this is over-sharpened.  But I have no doubt it could be.  I have trouble getting my images to appear on PN the way they do on my computer, especially with regard to brilliance and focus, so I usually sharpen them again after I reduce the file size for PN.  I eventually want to get a 24" external monitor for photo processing.  With the one I have I miss so many things that others are able to see.

Tony.....thanks for calling that to my attention!  I didn't know it could take that long for changes to post.  At the moment I'm waiting on changes for 2 of my other images to take effect.

Bill.....good to hear from you, and thanks for your kind remarks!  You're right about the light, and it was particularly extraordinary for this time of year.

And to all......this is has been the warmest winter on record in Indiana.  There is a standing joke in Indiana.  If it's basketball sectional time, then it's blizzard time.  We have traditionally gotten very deep snowfalls in March, and it's not uncommon for the ground to be covered with snow.  Not this year!  This scene above looks like autumn, but it was taken when we usually have cold/snowy weather.  Mind you, I'm not complaining about the mild winter!  :-)
