Last September while out for a drive, we came upon a Small Horse

Stable. I was told it was fine to take some Photos. It was terribly hot,

the horses I could tell were feeling the heat, and although I don't

know if it can be helped, there were flys all over the horses, causing

them much discomfort. While quite close to this one, she seemed to

stare right into my Eyes. My heart went out to her. For some reason

she seemed very lonely, despite being with other horses for

company. ( many thanks for your visit, most sincerely, Gail)

I thought this was an abstract a first glance.  I like the diagonal flow of the eye and the color is subtle but rich...nice work...regards....David

Nice work Gail. An unusual and attractive image. Your orange line around the image is a good highlight to the horse's face.

Wow.  This grabs me.  Well composed and focused, but the magic is you recognized and captured a mood.  Fantastic work, Gail.

A very sympathetic portrait and your story is quite touching.  Our 4-footed friends deserve our best efforts.... Mike

The noblest of animals portrait, the eye looks exactly like human and all over beautiful texture! Bravo Gail!

A fine capture Gail. The gaze of the animal hints at so many untold stories ! You have done some nice pp work & achieved good tonality. Rated 6. I have a similar one in b&w :)

Best regards.

Hi Gail,

Good shot for the working distance employed.

Not that sharp, but still effective as a softer portrait display .

Best Regards,  Mike

You're obviously an artist that doesn't rest on her larels, always striking out into new territory, new ways of seeing things. This is a beauty. The white marking at the top right gives just enough compositional relief so that the horse's eye can stand out in all it's power

I actually feel like I'm finally getting back into the 'swing of things' so to speak. The last two months have been busy with 'family', while good, not bad, but I think I found it emotionall draining. I've not had the gumption in any spare time that I had to do any editing.

Or if I sat down to do some, I never really accomplished much, no real drive. But suddenly I am feeling like doing more, perhaps it is the bit of warmer weather we have had. So many files to get back to and see if what I could discover. Months ago I kept going back to this 'horse file' and I just couldn't do anything with it.

The other day I persevered and am pleased that I did. thanks so much for those kind words Jack. They sure do help to encourage and inspire.

My sincere regards, Gail

Thanks very much for dropping by. Very nice of you to show it to your girlfriend. Very encouraging to know she liked it also.

Sincere regards, Gail

Indeed, Gail, this is a beauty.  I love the composition -- the bit of white, the strands of hair, and prominent eyelashes -- I don't "see" the sadness you describe as much as, perhaps, a mixture of emotions that engage.  I really love this
