John Peri 1,033 Posted November 14, 2011 Nothing to do with my photo, but I take this opportunity to say that I spent the afternoon yesterday at the GRAND PALAIS in Paris where 119 galleries from around the world were exposing photographs. There was a large full frontal nude against white background of CARLA BRUNI, ex-model and wife of the sitting President of the French Republic. If it's ok for them, possibly some other people with small town mentalities can express a little less hysteria over this subject. Link to comment
ingramimages 0 Posted November 14, 2011 As usual - you have made the model extraordinarily at ease, and her demeanor comes straight across in the photo.Lovely skin tones in the black and white conversion. Exposure control dead on.I feel the pain of the 'what the world thinks' - at least in my corner of the midwest United States.I was accused of producing 'Pregnant Lady Porn.' If you're curious - this what a photo of 'Pregnant Lady Porn' may look like:http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/28615_391271196589_119282146589_3837487_7963716_n.jpg Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted November 14, 2011 John,Another of your marvelous poses of beautiful models. Just beautiful. As far as people being "outraged" by photos like that of the first lady of France, well, those biases have to be spoon fed to them when they are growing up. Not all raw beauty has to have carnal overtones intimately involved with it. As Oscar Hammerstein wrote in the song from South Pacific,.....You have to be carefully taught! Link to comment
John Peri 1,033 Posted November 14, 2011 Thank you friends. I regret the hastily written words "small town" that sounds derogatory, there are all kinds of people in all places in fact, but it is a regular issue that we have to face. Link to comment
sleake 0 Posted November 16, 2011 John, The relaxed and open nature of your models never ceases to amaze me. I'm not sure how you do it, but people can debate the nude issue all they want and they completely miss what you capture. Take away the great tones and exposure and there is still a model that appears COMPLETELY at ease in front of you and the camera. This model is stunning in that way, but this is not a one off. It is a very common theme in your work. Again, I'm not sure how you do it but the trust is very obvious. Congratulations to you both on a fabulous image. The smile, the tilt of the head, the general 'come hither' look is just outstanding. Then there is your normal great tones and lighting. This ranks up there as one of my favorites of your work. Thanks for sharing! Scott Link to comment
jan_kellgren 0 Posted November 16, 2011 A lovely lady and the light is great! However I find the dark area on the left side of the background a touch disturbing.Best regardsJ Link to comment
John Peri 1,033 Posted November 16, 2011 Again thank you friends, I really appreciate your comments. Scott, you are particulalrly generous, thank you very much.I do agree of course regarding the shadow to the left, but its the HiFi System and I can't really move it before a shoot .. : -) Link to comment
