The B&W shot really has a way of drawing one's attention to the lighthouse ... I like this version better :)

Very impressive in B/W Walter, It is my favorite from the two. Beautiful range from white to black.

Outstanding composition. Great use of shadows. I have a preferance for the B&W version. Excellent work here.

I agree the b&w works very well. I would use PS perspective correction to straighten up the lighthouse a touch but it is a minor point.

Count me in on the B&W preference. Usually I prefer color but not with this image. The tonality is very soothing to my eyes. The sky is very impressive. Well done.

Wonderful sharpness & detail, esp. when viewing large. This reminds me of an old image. Beautifully converted to B&W, absolutely nothing lost on this one. Beautiful :)

Walter, Chalk up another vote for the B&W version though the colour one is no slouch either. Very nice composition with the foreground shadow area balancing the dramatic dark sky area at the top. The angle of the sunlinght creates shadows which then define the shapes and textures of things, especially the lighthouse. A classic look with the brilliant white of the clouds contrasted against the almost black sky. In a perfect world the clouds would have entirely outlined the lighthouse which, at the top, tends to merge with the dark sky. In the colour version the merging doesn't take place because of the contrast provided by the colours. Merge or not I'll go with this one! Best, LM.

Thank you Len for the comment! That is an interesting observation about the framing by the clouds. About 12 inches more heght on my tripod would have made that "perfect world". I shall keep that in mind for the future. Regards.
