ray_velasquez 0 Posted July 16, 2004 Shot this about a month and a half ago from Glacier Point in Yosemite. Please critique. Link to comment

erikadams 0 Posted July 16, 2004 The sky is magical and the lighting on half dome perfect. Excellent work. Link to comment
mario_sadio 0 Posted July 16, 2004 This is a classic. Somebody should decree a moratory on half dome shooting. Anyway I can not not like it. Link to comment
geo sun 0 Posted July 16, 2004 excellent. somehow I would like to see more of the mountain body. or maybe crop out some sky. maybe like this with apologies. http://s87004091.onlinehome.us/html/temp/half.jpgGeo Link to comment
paul pinkley 0 Posted July 17, 2004 What can I say? Fantastic shot, great lighting through the clouds on the rock, excellent work. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2004 Great contrast and color composition. IMHO, I prefer the "original" shot rather than the cropping suggested by "Geo Sun". The blue sky adds warmth and depth to the image. ananth Link to comment
ray_velasquez 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I appreciate your input. I just learned that this photo placed as Finalist on BetterPhoto.com. Judges are still deciding the Grand Prize finalist and second places winners. Don't think I'll make either but it was nice to place within the top 305 out of 14249 entries. Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted July 17, 2004 Beautiful shot; very good subject colors and light. I'm in favor of less sky. Regardless you have a very good image. ? Sean Link to comment
www.whitemountainphoto.com 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Who says all the good shots have been taken and are now cliche's. Certainly one of the nicest pictures I've seen of Half Dome. Link to comment
michaelseewald 237 Posted July 19, 2004 Where is the strength on the original? That's right, it's the dome and the clouds above and to the right of it. Where is the weakness? That's right, the left side. What do we keep and what do we cut, if anything, to improve this image? That's right, cut the left and keep the dome and clouds. Beautiful light and contrasts. Bottom too dark by a tad though and center of interest, in this case the dome, is 'too centered', breaking rule number one in composing. My suggestions on cropping and fine tuning the contrasts as pictured. Many blessings, Michael Seewald Link to comment
wespettus 0 Posted July 21, 2004 An excellent shot Ray. I think some of the other suggestions might apply re:cropping, but IMHO I think I might increase the contrast a tad and burn in the upper left clouds to downplay them. I think that would make this beautiful shot pop, just a bit more. Great work! Link to comment
