pmj 6 Posted July 28, 2001 Nicely done. The green leave doens't seem to help, though. Have you tried using a polarizer on these things? It may help reduce glare and intensify the color of the mushroom's head. Link to comment
Stock-Photos 1 Posted July 29, 2001 PatrickI appreciate your suggestion to use a polarizer. I'm not sureit would have improved this image. Seems to me, in overcast lighting,a polarizer can sometimes reduce color saturation. Also, a polarizercan cut back on light by over two stops and depth of field isalready a bit shallow in macro mode when my Coolpix 990 is usedin low light. I did not use a tripod for this image so I couldnot stop down.. I had the camera in both hands braced on the ground.Next time shooting mushrooms on the ground, I'll let go of thecamera and use the self timer eliminate shake. I was able to composethe shot easily because the Coolpix990 has a swivel which allows the LCD to be viewed from abovewhen the camera is on the ground. It keeps my face out of thedirt.A polarizer is great for enhancing colors and reducing reflectionsin the right situation. In thisimage, a polarizer was used. Link to comment
greg s 4 Posted January 9, 2002 I might have cropped the image in a bit, but I do like the mushroom a lot. Link to comment
david yama 0 Posted April 25, 2002 This is the best 'shroom pic I've seen. I like the brown cap on the mushroom. It's a nice tone. The green leaf does detract slightly. David. Link to comment
