Thanks Greg & Verena! This was taken with the R5 I borrow from Canon CPS (still have it for another week) with the 1.4x TC & EF 500mm F4 IS lens. I was still fumbling with the camera since I don't know how to set many thing and the birds were fighting. However, I caught them since the camera focusing is so good with eye/bird tracking. Mr Canon sure know how to reel me in :-)

Hi TmJ,

another amazing bird photo! I think the mirrorless Canon will have you hooked pretty soon, because this is what you want; in-flight shots with sharp eyes and little noise, so you can crop and still have decent images. It comes with a hefty price tag, but there's not much around that beats it. Maybe the Sony A-1 is on the same level, but then you'd have to invest heavily in lenses again. Kind regards, Vincent

Bonjour Vincent! I am in hook, line and sinker but I don't think I will buy it yet. Will see! I think you probably feel the same since the R6 is very much the same as the R5 from what I heard (with the only exception of cropping ability since R6 got less pixels than the R5). A friend of mine has an A1 but I don't know how good it is. However, I have problem buying the R5 even though it's only 1/2 price of the Sony A1, hence, I would never consider the A1. Also, I've had at least 3 Sony (still have 2) and I think the Sony produce funny colors at time. Especially when you making certain adjustment. I never had the same problem with Canon images. If this R5 is price at the R6 level then I would buy it right away but since it cost 1/3 more than the R6 I probably will be on the fence for a while :-)

A beautiful aerial battle image shot with an excellent camera capable of delivering what it promises. I know it is a difficult decision to give up buying what would give you so much satisfaction, but the rapid evolution of digital technologies will allow us to buy a superior model with affordable prices tomorrow. ciao Giangiorgio

Grazie mille Giangiorgio! I was ready to settle with the Olympus but now Mr Canon sure threw a wrench into my down sizing process. Not till now that I experience this eye/bird tracking technology (and this Canon seems very good) and I just make shooting any flying bird so simple. All the flying ducks I've been getting with my Canon 7D II over the years can be caught with almost no effort now with the R5 (and the like).
