Giangiorgio Crisponi 503 Posted October 25, 2021 Mating Butterflies – Malachite butterfly - (Siproeta stelenes). Two weeks ago I photographed these mating butterflies in the “ Butterflies Garden – Hunawihr” in Alsace, with the only lens I had on the day, the 12-24mm at 24mm. with Nikon D500, f / 4, 1/640 sec, ISO 2000. vincentoiseau 83 Posted October 25, 2021 Hi Giangiorgio, this is a very well executed photo! I agree with Gary about the clarity and colors. The lens you had on your camera explains the rather spectacular DoF, the focal distance being only 36 mm (1,5 x 24 mm). Bravo! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

Bill Neubaum 10,163 Posted October 26, 2021 Hi Giangiorgio, great shot! With that lens, you must have been right on top of them, surprising that they stayed still, but since it was a butterfly garden, they would be accustomed to being around people. I have a similar shot from a garden, but my lens was a 300mm with a MFD of 5 feet, very different. ciao, Bill Link to comment
