Wayne Sadler 609 Posted August 5, 2021 I tried for the longest to get a satisfactory rendering of this bridge Ponte Sant’Angelo or Bridge of Angels spanning the Tiber in Rome. My problem has been trying to include all of its five arches and all of its ten angel sculptures. When I finally eliminated one arch and four angels (father forgive me) I felt I had found a worthwhile composition. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 6, 2021 Hi Wayne, I'm glad you gave up on the idea to include the whole bridge; I know this is a huge bridge (although I've seen it only once, very long ago) and I think your art benefits from taking smaller parts from e.g. urban landscapes rather than trying to include everything. The sunny colors look amazing. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 609 Posted August 7, 2021 Thanks, Vincent. Yes, and a beautiful bridge. Sometimes a hard truth to follow - to sacrifice a part to benefit the whole. When I was doing a lot of water coloring, I could work days on a part of a painting only to realize it did not fit with the rest of the painting and had to excise it. Link to comment
smooth 285 Posted August 9, 2021 Wayne, a perfect composition where you also get a part of river Tiber and the houses on the other side. I'm pretty sure you are on the Vatican side of the bridge. Best regards, Arthur. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 609 Posted August 9, 2021 Correct. You know your Rome. The Vatican side. Many thanks, Arthur. Link to comment
