vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 24, 2021 Bavaria (Bayern), 2009. On a two-week trip to the south of Germany we stayed in Bayerisch Gmain, close to the border of Austria. The mountainous landscape was very impressive, although I found it hard to capture that greatness in a way that does justice to it. This waterfall was easier to photograph. I noticed the twigs in the foreground after some tries to compose the photo and decided to put these twigs in the center of the composition, as they seemed to symbolize the way water and trees come together. Your comments are very welcome. Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 466 Posted July 25, 2021 Vincent, It seems to me that your purpose has succeeded perfectly, the composition is very beautiful with great depth of field, the low exposure time has clearly highlighted the motion of the water, without going to too exploited silky effect, the sepia tone enhances the image , ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 25, 2021 Hi Giangiorgio, thank you for these wonderful comments! You have understood my intention with this image well; I appreciate that very much, coming from such an experienced photographer as you. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 25, 2021 You've really captured this rushing torrent of water beautifully and I am also impressed by the tones of the picture. Monochrome fits the picture perfectly avoiding any romanticism and emphasizing the power of the waterfall. At first I had questions about the tree bisecting the composition but on further viewing I've rather grown to like it. Link to comment
Todd Kraenzel 1 Posted July 26, 2021 Vincent, I really like the composition and the beautiful monochrome processing. There is no doubt you achieved your goal of bringing the trees and waterfall together to create a dynamic image. Well done. Todd Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 26, 2021 Hi Jack, thank you very much for your relevant and valuable comments! I remember having exactly the same doubt about the tree in the composition when shooting this, but decided it added something rather than making it less. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
