vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 30, 2021 When you're in the southern French town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, this hotel is hard to miss. Not only is Moustiers a small town (approximately 700 inhabitants), but is is very close to the touristic center. The photo was made in the early evening, when the light is at its most beautiful. I wanted to have the street with the plane trees and oleander, the hotel with its crowded terrace and some of the view (hence Belvédère) in the image. Your comments are very welcome. Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 496 Posted June 30, 2021 A very nice image with a fabulous light, very well framed on the left by the plane trees, on the right I see that there is also an Ailanthus tree, a very intrusive plant, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted June 30, 2021 Vincent, believe it or not, after completing critiques of 2 of your other images, I discovered that they failed to load. I hope the outcome is different here. This one truly is a cityscape, which includes architecture, landscaping, and people sitting outside - presumably at a restaurant. The composition is masterful, especially the inclusion of the street lamp on the right. It helps to provide sense of scale. - - - My best always, michael Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 30, 2021 Hi Giangiorgio, thank you for your friendly comment! I didn't know the Ailanthus tree, so thank for that knowledge as well. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 30, 2021 Hi Michael, thank you for your kind comments and favoriting this image! I know how frustrating the technical shortcomings of this site can be. I have written comments on some of your recent images too, I hope you have seen them. The street lamp does provide a sense of scale, well seen. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 30, 2021 Just as I imagine you, yourself are, the pictures you present seem sure and beautifully composed. I imagine you are a man who takes his time to get exactly what he has in mind. Certainly your commentary reinforces this impression; it runs contrary to the usual rushed, superficial, half-baked offerings we so frequently read today. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 30, 2021 Hi Jack, thank you for these friendly comments and the compliment! You are right about my aim in photography; I always try to get exactly what I have in mind about a situation, which is not always possible, but if I can, I will return to a location to photograph it in other light. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
