Intriguing image... sure captures the eye. What the heck IS it?

Thanks Bob. Actually, it’s an exposed piece of granite on a pathway in the woods close to my home. Part of the great Canadian Shield.

Gary, I'm reminded of an old tv spot. "This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs." The image clearly displays the convolutions, but it leaves is up to the viewer to decide what the darkest areas represent. To me, they seem to connote illness, such as Alzheimder's or cancer.
