Somewhere in the early 80's of the 20th century I made this photo of a house front in Charleville-Mézieres, Northern France. What struck me about the scene were two things: the light hitting the weathered stone and wood and the rhythmic pattern of the architectural elements in this house front. I guess I was very fond of long shadows in those days already. Your comments are very welcome.

Beautiful old photo and mood, Vincent! I like everything about this frame. Strict rectangular geometry with a combination of different rhythms and textures, plus a shadow at an angle of 45 degrees. Good in monochrome, Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

thank you for your friendly and relevant comments! I think it was an early version of what you saw in my later photography of the south of France, maybe a bit more raw in style. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Vincent

Symmetry but with subtle variations and super light makes for a gentle yet captivating photograph. Those shadows add an extra dimension to the pleasure of viewing.

Bravo Vincent, you have found the best time to shoot this beautiful photograph, with the grazing light of the sun that highlights the structure of the wood and the cracks in the plaster. the light sepia tone is typical of the age of the photo, a job done very well , ciao Giangiorgio
