vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 17, 2021 An exercise in depth-of-field, using a vintage Olympus lens, a 50 mm 1.8 from the 70's. I tried to bring out the softness of the petals and still show the structure on them. I would like to know what you think of this and how effective it is as an image. Your comments are very welcome. igla 25 Posted January 18, 2021 Hi Vincent. I think you achieved your goal. That lens passed the test, monochromatic approach was the right choice. Link to comment

Giangiorgio Crisponi 509 Posted January 18, 2021 It is not said that the lenses of the past are not up to the current ones. Being able to get all the nuances and details on a white surface is difficult, and the credit, in addition to the lens, goes above all to the photographer, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment

patrickcompagnucci 30 Posted January 19, 2021 Vincent you definitely accomplished what you set out to do. In my mind, I also envision a sculpted white marble or glass, like you would see in a fine vase, or sculpture. Well done! Patrick Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted January 28, 2021 Vincent, the few occasions you post abstract images have been successful in a variety of respects. This one is no exception. The subject appears to be an extraordinarily delicate fan that humans probably would use too harshly. On each previous occasion, your style has been presented in such a different way to make it truly stand out. Using my own style as an example, and to use musical terminology, yours is pianissimo while mine is fortissimo. Fine work . . . - - My best always, michael Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 29, 2021 Hi Michael, what great comments! I understand your point, but I think you're selling yourself short here; our abstractions are very different, but I don't think that yours are 'louder' than mine. I see it as different dialects of the same photographic language, one that we both speak from our hearts. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
