On a walk through the woods in november, I came across many marvelous macro landscapes. These beech leaves, wet from the rain, just had to be photographed. I chose to combine a diagonal composition with a central focus point, with heavily OoF but recognizable shapes as a background. Your comments are very welcome.

Bravo Vincent, the soft light, the warm pastel colors and the wet surface, enhance this autumnal atmosphere very well, excellent composition and details, ciao Giangiorgio

What I admire the most about this image, Vincent, is its subtlety - in contrast, in saturation, and detail. Unless my brain and vision are fooling me, it seems that there's exactly one droplet of rain in the frame, a tiny white oval - in the bottom right quadrant. Superb work! - - My best always, michael

Hi Michael,

thank you for your friendly and observant comment! As I have become used to of you, your comment shows how well you have looked at the image. You are right: the tiny white oval you mention is the only droplet of rain in the frame with the typical shape of a droplet; there are other accumulations of rain water in the picture, e.g. on the outer edge of the first beech leaf on the left and in the fork of the twig. But these do not look like 'droplets'. I really appreciate your keen observation skills. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Vincent, I love images like this. You have created a comfortable and even cozy mood by letting the observer see the cold and wet outdoor scene from the comfort of their home, in most cases. I like the clarity of the near leaves and the fact that you can see the forest in the background, blurred just enough for recognition. A lovely and well thought out image with nice presentation...................Best Always, Holger

Hi Holger,

thank you for your friendly comments! The notion of offering an image of cold and wet nature to viewers who look at it from the comfort of their home hadn't occurred to me yet, but it may be totally correct. I'm glad you like the image and its background. Kind regards, Vincent
