michaellinder 16,613 Posted January 30, 2020 Wow, what an abstract subject the Fresnel is, Laurent! Magnificent color palette , symmetrical curves - spot on composition and perspective. - - My best, michael Link to comment
gregverena 343 Posted January 30, 2020 Oh gosh- so, this is an old one, but is that a crack in the lens? Probably doesn't hurt its output. Interesting shot! Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted January 31, 2020 Michael...Thank you kindly! This Fresnel has been retired from active service and replaced with an exterior electric unit;it is however sitting on its podium at the top of the lighthouse and this shot from within was possible through the gap left by some damage it sustained while the lighthouse was shut down for several years due to mercury contamination. It was reopened to the public in 2010 after extensive rehabilitation.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted January 31, 2020 That’s one complex lighthouse lens. Nicely captured! Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted January 31, 2020 Greg & Verena...Not so old:that 2017 dates the shot which I just reworked for the upload. This Fresnel is not operational(replaced by exterior electric unit) and some of its glass was damaged during the almost 10 years the lighthouse was shut down due to Mercury contamination;the glasswork still remains quite impressive.Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted January 31, 2020 Warren...I agree and the nice thing about this one is that it is fully accessible to the public since the site has been placed in the historical inventory of the province.Thank you for the kind note!Salutations-Laurent Link to comment
