On an early evening walk through the southern French town of Crest. The warm evening light created very long shadows. Your comments are very welcome.

I really like the composition and design of this image, Vincent. The birdcage on the ledge with a potted plant, in front of a partially open window is an interesting touch. But, to me, the lighting is the real star of this show. Aside from the long shadows you mentioned, the light coming through the birdcage's slats yields some rather different - certainly unique in the context of this image - perhaps unique, shadows. Within the birdcage per se, they are curvilinear while left of the cage they are crisscrossed. The tiny objects in the wall also cast shadows commensurate with their size. Finally, I must mention the textural variety, which is an added bonus. - - My best always, michael

Hi Vincent, I tell you that I can't evaluate this photo a lot, I have seen some really excellent photos on your profile, at least for me, and therefore I know you can do much more.

I like the shade and the colors of the wall, but the cage has a terrible color and you put it in a central position.

However, it is a good photo.

But above all I am writing to wish you a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Best regards. Max

Hi Max,

thank you. It's so nice of you to wish me a merry Christmas and I wish the same to you! As for the photo's evaluation, it's just the bird cage with its 'terrible' color that is the subject of this photo; not everything in life can be beautiful or in harmony with its surroundings, that is the point here. Kind regards, Vincent

Excellent textures and details on the wall and window frame, Vincent. The window makes a nice contrast to the outside brightness. This gives the windows an air of mystery. The birdcage is over halfway in but still could be tenuous. I would assume the window is askew in order to make room for the cage or to watch it. Excellent colors, light and composition. I like the placement of the window in the image because it gives room for the shadows on the left. A carefully composed and presented image.. Best regards, Paul.

Hi Paul,

thanks for your very precise comments and thoughts! You have understood the meaning of this image very well, the room on the left you mention was intended to give way to the shadows. Kind regards, Vincent

Hello Vincent. The lighting here is the star ... it enhances the texture, gives volume and lights up the colors. Kind Regards, Rosario.
