vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 18, 2019 A water lily flower in a small pool in the 'butterfly garden' of Digne-les-Bains, southern France. I quite liked the way the reeds 'disturbed' the view of the lonely water lily. Both are water plants and here they coexist beautifully. As always, your comments are very welcome. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted September 19, 2019 Vincent, I almost missed the lone flower in this image. To me, it's not the most interesting subject. Rather, the lily pads and the reeds serve tat purpose. The lily pads containing droplets of water and the shadows of the diagonal reeds, some of which appear criss-crossed, yield a semiabstract impression. This is a most creative portrayal of nature's wonders and I congratulate you on such fine work. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 509 Posted September 19, 2019 This beautiful image reminds me of the paintings of the water lilies painted by Monet, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 19, 2019 A very different view of the water lily. I very much agree with you about the role of the reeds in this picture. They screen the picture just enough to ask us to linger a little longer. That alone is a service since we are always rushing from one bright thing to another without really recording anything. We don't begin to see and appreciate until we allow our mind to stop for at least a moment. Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 19, 2019 Hi Michael, thank you for your unique comments! Your description of the image exactly matches the sentiment I had shooting the picture: the flower is just a part of a whole, the diagonally stretched out reeds are what struck me, together with the water droplets with the sun's reflection in them. I personally liked the almost perished leaf (center left). Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 19, 2019 Hi Giangiorgio, thank you for your beautiful comment, mentioning this image in the same sentence as Monet, which is too much honor! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 19, 2019 Hi Jack, thank you for your insightful comment that shows your understanding of the way I look at things; I like these micro-landscapes composed by nature (in this case, helped by man) that make you stop and look again, discovering the world in all its glory again just by paying attention. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted September 22, 2019 Hi Vlad, thanks for your friendly comment! This image is unedited, which makes it natural in a direct sense, but it was shot in a 'landscaped' garden, so maybe not completely natural in every way. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
tai 3 Posted October 4, 2019 Enchanting lily picture, Vincent! Beautiful light and shadows, colors, details ... Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment

pablowarko 1 Posted June 18, 2020 Love the colors and light in this image, Vincent. I like the position of the lily in the composition. A very well presented image with lots of flourishes. Best regards, Paul. Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted June 18, 2020 Hi Paul and Dana, thank you for your friendly comments! The lily in the middle wasn't what drew my attention to this scene, although I did place it in the center. The reed stalks crossing the scene were the initial reason to shoot this.
