Technically not such a great shot, but one I am proud of anyway. This lovely couple was enjoying the evening dance party at the annual bull run festival in Fontvieille, southern France, with the music of Alain Musichini's group. These people were having fun and liking the fact that I photographed them. Your comments are very welcome.

Vincent, I must disagree with your disclaimer; this image is as technically sound as it needs to be, in my opinion. (Could it be better? Perhaps, one element that could improve it would be if the woman in the foreground couple were sharper. ) As you noted, each person in the foreground couple clearly exhibit their joy from dancing. I like how each one has a different mode of mugging for you. - - My best always, michael

Hi Michael,

thanks for your detailed critique that I value very much! Technically sound and technically great are sometimes wide apart, but you make a good point. It's not really bad technically, but there is no or little detail in the shadows e.g. , which I consider to be one of the landmarks of a good photo. But the main thing is the image itself, of which I am proud, as it captures the spirit of an event by portraying the participants. Kind regards, Vincent

A wonderful street shot with a mood, Vincent! I like the warmth and joy of this image. As for the sharpness of the lady face, it is not necessary here. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

A beautiful, very spontaneous photo that shows these couples, no longer young, transmitting what is " La gioia di vivere", very contagious in deteminate situations, this photo conveys this feeling., ciao Giangiorgio

Hi Tatiana,

thank you for your friendly comments! It is exactly the joy these people radiate that struck me when I saw the scene and they liked me photographing them. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Giangiorgio,

we came out of a restaurant and stumbled upon this dance event; this couple 'stole the show', they were very involved in each other and I liked that and decided to photograph them. They were kind enough to let me do that and the photo does show, as you rightfully state, 'joie de vivre'. Thanks for your beautiful comments! Kind regards, Vincent

Vincent...Not rehearsed and genuinely authentique as a candid portrait should be..In a so brief moment, you seized her consent to the shot and his total and intense enjoyment of the moment!Bravo et salutations-Laurent

Hi Laurent,

thank you for your friendly comments! These people were wonderful and kind, they were having fun and let me into their world for a moment. It's more rare than it should be, but at least I photographed it. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Vincent, I agree with your description, this photo is not from you, you could have done much better.

It's true, however, that it transmits sensations even so, but that poor gentleman you shot with a gun, and the poor singer left without a head!

Maybe you even had two beers, this is a good thing!

Bye, see you soon! Max

Hi Max,

I don't think I totally understand your comments, but you seem to state I would normally make a better photo than this one. The opportunity to make a photo was very limited, as spontaneous events do not repeat themselves. Therefore I am glad to have this photo, Kind regards, Vincent
