michaellinder 16,612 Posted March 7, 2019 Jim, the thumbnail version of this image really fooled me into thinking that you photographed a very shopworn statue. Obviously not! This image easily could be mistaken for a macro, given the very sharp, minute detail. It is quite intriguing, having given me the opportunity to explore all the nooks and crannies of this rock formation. The POTW, even though it allegedly isn't decided on merit, is well deserved. Congratulations! Link to comment
jwilliams9 68 Posted March 7, 2019 Thank you so much. Yes, this is a well worn boulder in the middle of the woods. I was actually shooting something else, had my tripod set up and just took a breather and was looking around. I instantly saw this rock and thought why is it looking at me. lol. so of course i had to shoot it. Link to comment
Saadsalem 74 Posted March 8, 2019 I thought it was a shot from graveyard from the thumbnail image, obviously I was tricked , the full image is a great one in details, sharpness, colors and vibranc. well seen and shot, it bears resemblance to Picasso's faces in an unmistakable resemblance. Very good work. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted March 8, 2019 Saad, your reference to Picasso is entirely appropriate. Well said. Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 468 Posted March 8, 2019 A well deserved award for this interesting image. The lichens that cover this rock formation recreate the epidermis of this boulder with human features, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted March 29, 2019 Magnificent. A well-deserved award and recognition. Powerful angle and close up, that actually make the photograph stand out. I can only fathom what this rock sculpture would look from a distance...a totally different "thing" altogether. I, however, prefer to stay with this exceptional composition and capture. Congratulations. DG Link to comment
