vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Officially you're not supposed to take photos of policemen, but these two wanted their photo taken. Just before I could make a portrait, they were called to duty. I focused on the officer with the cigarette, because he's the proverbial urban cowboy. In the background you can see the Pantheon. Shot on Agfapan 100 negative film. Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi ZT, thanks for your friendly comment. I recently rediscovered this shot (having bought a new scanner). Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 503 Posted January 19, 2019 The Carabinieri are the most loved policemen by the Italians, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted January 19, 2019 I like the focus point and the tones of this image Vincent. A very good street.....................BR, Holger Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi Giangiorgio, these two guys behaved like normal people, which is certainly an admirable quality in civil servants/officers of the law. But what is the reason that Carabinieri are more loved by the people than the Polizia Municipale? Thanks for your comment! Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi Holger, thanks for your friendly comment! The focus had to be where it is, and it isn't even completely right; as I was in a hurry to get a shot, my manual focus wasn't very precise. But I'm glad you like it. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi Tatiana, thanks for your comment! The scans turn out very differently and I'm still struggling to get the best out of the scanner. Editing the scans is very time consuming, but it's so nice to see your old photos come to life. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 19, 2019 Hi Patrick, thanks for your comments! The focus point is only logical and, as I explained to Holger, not even spot-on, the tones are more of a personal choice. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted January 23, 2019 Vincent, you must have a high-end scanner, given the quality of this image. There's a lot going on here - especially the policemen starting to leave this area, although it's difficult to tell what the other people in the frame are doing. The Pantheon is an added bonus. Bravo! - - My best, michael Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted January 23, 2019 Hi Michael, thanks for your friendly comments! The scanner is an Epson V 850 Pro, not really high-end but decent. I will definitely post many more scans of negatives and slides from the 'archives'. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
pablowarko 1 Posted September 19, 2019 Great choice of focal point, Vincent. The DoF beautifully softens out everything but the one Officer and bike making for an excellent presentation. Something in the back of the mind makes you look at the image several times. A very interesting photo that captures a parcel of time that provokes ones inner realism. Best regards, Paul.
