Quite honestly, I have wondered for a while about your technique which, I too, thought was HDR.  It was enlightening to read your response to Alf.

First and foremost, the two young people . . . The one to our left clearly has an infectious sense of humor.  He not only displays it by means of his broad smile and tilted head.  He also has his right arm supported by his left hand, as if he wants to fool us into thinking how serious he is.  The young man to our right clearly is all business.  His right hand clinches his shirt, while his gaze is straight ahead.  He's possibly even more intent on fooling us.  When we least expect, he will unleash his true nature.

Several elements of the image make it a superior one:  the symbiosis among the colors, the natural skin tone, the detail, and - of course - the composition.  Finally, one item has me baffled:  the white marks on the right person's face.  Are they tribal in nature?  If so, is it possible that the person to our right is female?

My best always,

michael

Mike...thank you so much for your comment. Means a lot to me. These kids delighted us. They were mischievious, comical and very happy and cute. The kid on the left, Lucy, The little girl, laughs at everything. The boy on the right, Sipho, laughs at his sister. The white spots are custom in some cultures. However, after speaking to there mother, I learned that it isnt in there culture, but Sipho likes the spots on his face. Thanks again, Mike.

Very nice photo. I confess that most of the time I am not a big fan of stylized photos, but I like what you're doing with yours - it's a very nice treatment that gives it a illustrative quality. And your compositions are great. The contrast between the two expressions here is wonderful. Kudos!

Hi Lawrence, I don't know how I missed this charming image. The kids and their expression are just great.
