Marvelous shot! I hope I am as lucky as I'm off to Iceland in February for the purpose of seeing and hopefully photographing the Aurora! I'm working hard on my bucket list and seeing the aurora is right at the top!!

I have only witnessed the Aurora Borealis on one occasion. It was in Norway and I didn't have a camera with me.  However since seeing it I have never seen a photograph that can do it justice. 

But.........I have to say this photograph is the closest thing to being there I have seen!

Alain, this must have been a powerful aurora, as you were able to capture it at a relatively low ISO and a short exposure time, which helped to prevent the stars from trailing. The orange clouds provide an interesting pair with the green aurora. I wish I were able to witness this phenomenon in person, too. Best regards. Peter

Alain,  This image is a keeper, one that you should value always.  We are planning a trip to Alaska next year and have hopes of seeing the Northern  Lights there.  If we are so fortunate, I'd be ecstatic to get anything close to this.   Larry
