alfbailey 3 Posted October 7, 2016 The water was covering the causeway to Holy Island wen I arrived, so I waded through and took up this position, the tide rapidly receded and I had to wait for vehicles to cross before I could take this shot. I have always wanted to get a shot of this strange little elevated shed, but was never able to stop before. The sun was quite bright over my left shoulder but there was dark ominous looking clouds ahead. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment

hstelljes 41 Posted October 7, 2016 The wait was well worth it Alf. I love the light on the shed and your chosen pov. This stark b&w look is very appealing and I feel this image will stay in my mind for some time to come. That's a memorable image my friend. Like it.Best Always, Holger Link to comment
Tony Brandstetter 814 Posted October 7, 2016 The tones in this post are simply brilliant, from the brightness of the shack against the dark sky to the streak of clouds off in the distance, very cool shot Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted October 8, 2016 I have to agree with all the previous comments. The b/w tones and detail are superb and the composition is spot on. Are those 3 ducks beyond the tower rail ;-). Good stuff... Mike Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 8, 2016 The title got a smile out of me but the picture itself is very good with a composition that tells me right off that this photographer knows what he is doing. Link to comment

rjmelone 3 Posted October 13, 2016 A moody spectacle that invokes drama Alf. Perfectly framed with excellent use of light! Link to comment
cyanatic 0 Posted October 13, 2016 This should definitely be seen large to be fully appreciated. Love the stark contrast of those dark foreboding clouds and the brightly lit tower. A romantically melancholy atmosphere. One wonders at the purpose of that tower and when it was last manned. And there is something about a causeway in your corner of the world that brings to my mind the image of fierce men with edged weapons facing off against each other some thousand years ago. alfbailey 3 Posted October 13, 2016 Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated! Alf STEVE I am so glad you asked the purpose of the tower. It is used as a place of refuge when people are stranded by the high tide. There are warnings everywhere relating to crossing time and safety, but hardly a week goes by without someone being stranded in their cars because they decide to "take a chance". The little tower at least offers some dry shelter until help arrives in the form of the Coast Guard. As for the history of the island, there just isn't enough space on PN to write it all :) Suffice to say the island has it's own famous castle. Many Thank for your visit and thoughtful feedback Steve! sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted October 15, 2016 Hi Alf. A really strong composition with excellent light and details. Beautifully composed and B/W was a great choice to bring out the menacing moodiness in the sky! All the best. Sarah. Link to comment
