stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 12, 2016 Kisimul castle is a medieval castle on the Isle of Barra, Scotland. Thanks for looking. Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted July 13, 2016 I love the mood and colors. While I'm a big fan of anchoring an image with rocks & such; this rock is just too BIG-- it dwarfs the castle. Lucky you too have had the experience of seeing this. I've never been to Outer Hebrides, and this makes me want to go. Thanks for posting this. But are midges there too? Regards, Jeff Link to comment
stephen-whitehead 0 Posted July 14, 2016 Hi Jeff,Thank you for your comment. Personally, I don't mind the balance of the composition, but agreed, it is weighted to the foreground and not the castle, the sub title Rock in the bay is a play on the name Kisimul (Chiosmuil) and it loosely translates as rock in the bay, or more likely the castle on the rock in the bay.I can strongly recommend a trip to the Outer Hebrides it is a fascinating place with a unique culture, midges can be a problem but not as bad as the Scotish mainland as its usually fairly windy, best time to go is early summer May or June and you'll miss them altogether. solamnus 2 Posted September 7, 2016 i really like the atmosphere in this image. It takes you back in time somehow. I dont mind the composition of the big rock in the foreground, although id have liked the castle to be a bit bigger( i realize that might be difficult though :P ).Really cool image./Martin.
