Supriyo 6,008 Posted April 18, 2016 Martin,I like the horizontal crop better. This version over-highlights the columns in the middle without actually adding anything to the overall image. The two flags produce a symmetry and frames the central subject and I like that. This version has more of the foreground blurred vegetation that introduces an element of voyeur (or stealth) which may be interesting to some viewers. However to me, it also pushes the main subject away at a distance. I like the horizontal version because it brings the main face forward, frames it nicely between the two flags, adds another symmetry element with the two curved leaves, and suppresses the vertical columns. One more thing, the sky in this version should be brightened. It looks artificial, and also has a slight reddish tinge. Link to comment
hjoseph7 1,553 Posted April 18, 2016 If you cut down the overhead a little bit, it might look better but that is just my humble opinion. Still this one was interesting enough for me to take a better look. I think it's the colors. Link to comment
mhahn 26 Posted April 19, 2016 Here's the original. It's not in very good shape, so it's difficult to figure out exactly what the best edit might be, but I've been having some fun with it. Thanks for the suggestions and comments. Link to comment
